Has anyone had a cracked windscreen yet and do you know how the guys fit them?

The screens are bonded into the car, the windscreen co will have to remove the arches to access the outside edges of the glass.

Do the roof arches remove easily then Marcus? Not that I'm going to remove them, just curious :eusa-think:

Not see it done but believe its about 1 hour 15 to remove and refit an arch, they have to remove the wiper arms so they can remove the scuttle panel to access the fixings at the base of the arches.

Bloody hell! I can't imagine Autoglass, or any other windscreen company, are going to be too impressed when they are called out to replace an RCZ windscreen. Not exactly designed for assembly/dis-assembly then.

You wrote what I had thought when I read that yesterday. Here's hoping that my screen remains intact for the duration!

the wipers and scuttle panel have to come off anyway to access the base of the screen so the only extra work is unclipping the arches.

Guy's,

Im i slightly thick or paranoid :eusa-think:but do i now presume if my windscreen is cracked, ignore Autoglass and others, return to your dealer then be faced with a labour repair bill to repair my RCZ,if so what cost are we NOW looking at :wtf:

Get a grip guys....

Lots of modern cars require extensive trim stripping to replace a windscreen.

If your screen needs changing call your insurance co, pay your excess, job done....

You should see how much work has to be done to change a panoramic glass roof in a car !

I think i would still rather a Peugeot dealer do the work if my insurance company allowed .

Sometimes though you have to go where they say .

99.9% of dealers dont fit screens as they are not geared up for that sort of work, they will sub contract the job to their prefered glass company.

Christ on a stick, guys, you dont need to be so paranoid.

All modern cars are a pig to change a windscreen. The fitters are trained for the job. I had 2 windscreens in a month on my 998 after being hit by flying stones. Half day job on my drive each time to swap them. You would never tell they had been done.

My 998 has all the same toys as the RCZ including auto wipers and mirrors.

So what you are saying,if by chance any one of us is unlucky to suffer a cracked windscreen call out your friendly Autoglass bloke,he will know immediately what to do,job done :wtf: the day i see that i will donate a months wages to my favourite charity :eusa-think:

I was working nights last month they were called out to my work to replace glass on an Audi A3 2009 model
ater two hours the car was towed to a Swansea dealer,no not paranoid just a realist,if anyone can declare now that these guys will visit you on roadside and calmly remove all obstruction's and change glass and you be on you'r merry way then fine

Be real here,if my RCZ sustained a cracked glass,it would be back at the dealer, specialist guy will be called, and i may be lucky to see the car back 3 to 4 days

Yep, I am telling you just that. The autoglass technicians are not allowed to fit any windscreen that they have not been specifally trained for. When you call and make a booking the reason they need to know all the car details is not just for getting the correct screen but also for getting the correct fitter.

I do not know of a single dealer that fits its own glass. They all contract it to people like autoglass. Even Porsche dealers do not touch a windscreen, Autoglass do it for them and even carry the genuine Porsche branded windscreen as stock.

Don't delude yourselves that by taking it to a dealer that the dealership are doing the work or even overseeing it.

Also lets remember, its a Peugeot not a Bugatti.....
