How unlucky am I?
I took my RCZ for its first MOT this morning. After about 40 mins the guy comes over & says "we've had to abandon the test as we can't get the engine up to temp to do the emission tests because there's coolant spewing out of the filler tank".
Its never happened before. How strange it happened at this precise moment. A bit of bad luck I guess.
I've had to come home in one of the garage's spare cars while they look into it.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Looks like no one else has experienced my car's particular problem.
Since that problem there's been more. Typical as the three year warranty ran out at the end of last month.
Shortly after the garage fitted a new seal to the cooler filler tank to fix the original problem, the car struggled to start in the mornings. I took it in & they said the engine is 'corked' or 'coked' & it would be a big job.
Luckily, although the car was a week out of warranty, Peugeot agreed to cover the cost of the repair, which I thought was good of them.
The garage just rang this morning to inform me that they had finished the big job but while testing the engine is overheating. They suspect a thermostat fault & so are ordering one today. Peugeot wont pay for this though, so I'll have to get my wallet out.
I'm sort of loosing all confidence in the car now :-(
I was planning on changing it for a new RCZ, but with manufacturing of the RCZ ceasing in September, I think I'll be looking for something else.

Hi Cruisa,

Sounds like your having a spot of bad luck! There does seem to be a common issue with the THP motor coking up (carbon build up) but if Peugeot have sorted this for you an expansion cap seal and a thermostat doesn't sound like the end of the world. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll be grinning from ear to ear once back on the road and behind the wheel of you pride and joy.
What mileage has your car covered? They recon using premium fuels helps with the coking issue but not sure if that's just wishful thinking
Good luck hope you get it sorted soon.
P.S it would be interesting to know what your dealer charges to supply & fit the thermostat.

All fixed
The guy at the garage did suggest putting some premium fuel in now & again. He said something about the octane level doing something with vales or other
He also asked me if I ever "put my foot down" so to speak. I said TBH my wife drives it more than me as she usues it for work, but no, not really. He said that might have caused the problem & I should "give it a blast" now & again.
TBH I'm not that bothered about performance & speed. I just think an RCZ looks sexy ;)

The guy at the garage said the job would have cost me around £800
So thank you for covering that Peugeot.
The Thermostat & fitting of came to around £125
They also washed the car :) Which brought to my attention the 'kerbing' on both inside wheels. Not my fault. :D

Sorry, forgot to tell you the mileage.
Its done around 27,000 miles.
So well under average I'd say. (June 2012)

Who is to blame for the scuffed wheels then?

My wife
I was a passenger (returning from hospital) when she did one of them. Chunk out of tyre even
She doesn't drive with enough confidence & other drivers take advantage. That's what happens when I'm her passenger anyway :D
If I'm in the car I'm usually the one driving, but she does use it more than me on a daily basis.
She's just ordered herself a Fiat 500S Convertible. So she'll be using that for work when it arrives in September.

don't talk to me - i scuffed one of mine today and I'm furious. i saw it coming and i let myself be drawn in to the woman in an MPV waving me forward to a space i knew my car wouldn't fit and screech!!

It is never good to watch your plus one driving your pride and joy especially when they're not used to the width of the Damn thing :eusa-whistle:
