Hi,

I am losing coolant, topping up expansion tank every couple of days. Took it to garage today, they eventually said the thermostat housing was leaking. They said that to get to it meant taking off a lot of kit to get to it, quoted me 4 to 5 hours work, they said the part was approx £160. Sounds like It could be £500!

So, is this about right? Is there a quicker fix, can it be accessed more easily?

Appreciate any advice....

Cheers,

Paul.

Here in Lithuania at Peugeot dealership, I paid ~around 315 Eur (£265) for thermostat replacement (including new thermostat, new wiring and coolant) took them less than 2 hours to replace. £500 sounds a bit too much for a thermostat replacement 🤔

I think I paid around £85 for mine but its critical you get the right tank as the 1st one they sent me was wrong part but right OEM no? Different engines have compatible part numbers plus the connections were upgraded on some 156 variants

Correction. Had it done at a Peugeot independent specialist in London.

Total labour for replacing and flushing the system was 1.8 hours.
Part cost £106.84

Total cost £294.84 back in October 2021 for replacing thermostat housing.

Mine is a 2013 THP200. Hope this helps.

I did get them to do an inspection and replace my rocker cover at the same time so couldn't remember the breakdown.

I done a small thread on this in the past as Pedro says there’s more than 1 variations,I had mine for roughly £75 eBay myself and a friend changed it on my drive….I won’t be in a rush do that job again from what I remember it was a pig of a job!
