Diagnostic checks are often suggested but when that is done it's still a major guessing game it seems. Can anyone reccomend a garage in North East Essex who can fix an RCZ

What diagnostic equipment was used?
I've got dealer software with a laptop and interface and using that it's fairly easy to identify problems.

Thank you Iain, I had a mobile mechanic found code p1336 then today a good local garage said it may need software update but suggested fuel pump and told me to see Peugeot main dealer. Car is misfiring half the time or running perfectly or going into limp which is got round by turning engine off then starting again.

Yes, unfortunately, can be a guessing game. I had P1336, P1337 and P0351. FYI, I use Autel AP200 with Peugeot database. Car went into limp mode and fan went crazy. Thinking coil pack, plugs or potentially HPFP on the way out. Moved coil pack around the code didn't change. Clear the faults and car has been OK so far. I bought new coil packs and plugs but won't replace them yet. If it happens again then may get my HPFP refurbished as my gut feel is HPFP might be on the way out then replace coil packs and plugs at the same time. From various post, the classic error code for HPFP seems to be P0087.

Not close to you but recommend Peugeot, Citroen Servicing and Repairs Specialist. very highly.

Today car is in garage for timing chain replacement will take 3 days. It was rattling, bill over eleven hundred pounds.
While at garage I called Peugeot to ask their charge for this job and they would want more. I was told that the cost might be covered by Peugeot if they could check car themselves in March. Unfortunately Both the garage and a Peugeot tech. told me that to drive it at all could be disastrous. It really had better be the chain.

I do wonder if it could just have been a tensioner adjust but you gotta trust someone, at least they spent time on it.

They do call it the death rattle as needs replacing before it causes the damage to the engine.. Yes there has been some RCZers who have been told it would be done under warranty, but depending on the age of the RCZs I am sure they will be out of this unless they paid for the extended warranty think it's up to a max 10 years

Car is 2015 I think I will leave it in garage for fix, if I haul it around to dealership appt. Then they say no it would be too much. Thanks for comments all.

I helped someone with that fault on a 207cc cabriolet showing code P1336 + misfires they had coil packs/plugs a new battery a new chain tensioner throwing money at it like confetti eventually she rang me up told me the code & what a local handy lad had done to it so I changed the Crank sensor & it cleared the fault thus end of story car running like a dream but I'm not saying it may cure your faults OBD codes don't tell you where the issues are they only point you in a direction which may reveal the source of the faults

I'm waiting for a mobile mechanic to fix my stuttering issue but mine is because of a compression leak between cylinders 2 and 3 which is caused by compression leaking through the bolt that hold on the cover between cylinders 3 and 4.

If its correct what your saying the compression is being lost because the head gasket is blowing out between the 2 cylinders because of a loose head bolt ??
Replacing the bolt is quick fix but it may need a new head gasket & a garage or good mechanic will tell you the head might have to come off as this problem can distort the head so it may need to get checked for true flatness & if removed they always advise having it reskimmed before reassembly depending on the problem

Just realised I've hijacked someone's thread when I meant to put that question about parts in my own existing one.

Here's a better idea of what I'm dealing with.
In 1 of the pictures shows the top of the engine and down the bolt hold between spark plugs 3-4 is some orange tape.
The other picture is the orange tape taken out of the hole.

If I take the tape out there is a hissing noise coming from that hole.

I spoke to someone who knows the engine and they said that it's not possible to lose compression through that hole so what is the hissing noise if not lost compression? There is always a strong smell of fuel on cold startup too.

Maybe hissing fuel pressure from the injector if it stink's of petrol its possibly over fueling & might explain why its stuttering as that cylinder? will misfire
