Just checked mine, and it looks 'dark'. Even though they have supposed to of serviced it before i picked it up.
I think they have just 'topped it up' as there was oil around the filler cap. :?

I have a 1992 Nissan N14 Pulsar SSS, with Nissan's venerable SR20DE engine. The oil for most of its life is a honey colour.

However the 207cc Sport's oil is always dark. Much darker than the Nissan's and I change oil every 5,000 kilometres, with filter change every other time.

The Prince engine is an oil consumer.

Many Japanese engines run very cleanly. When I drain the engine oil on my Lexus the chap always ask if I really want to change it, cause it looks like new.
But then, some Honda engines make the oil "dirty".

And yes, the THP engine turns the oil black after few hundreds of hard driven miles. At least for the R engine, I would recommend to change the engine oil twice as often as on the service interval.
