Chipped paint when removing rear light

Anyone experienced the bodywork paint chipping back to bare metal when removing the rear lights?

A mechanic recently did this on my car, thereby requiring the whole panel to be resprayed.

how did it chip ?

He was replacing the bulb hence removed the light set.

When he removed the light I think he lifted it from the bottom and it took the paint off from the top corner where it sits near bodywork.

He said it was stiff when getting the top pin out where it attaches to body.

Eek! At least they took responsiblility from the offset and you've had the damage fixed.
