This is my new 3rd brake light (first two pictures with the flash):

3M tape was not used, it fits perfectly in the gap between the headliner and the glass :)
The original 3rd brake light is off now, I had some not working LEDs.

And this is on the headlights:

The led strips are just fit in on the top of the headlights. I didn't remove the plastic protection of the 3M tape so now there is that nice blue reflection on the chrome of the headlights :)
Also without glue, they are not moving. They are connected to the fuse of the daytime running lamps (the fuse is in the engine compartment). When I turn on the car, the led strips make also the effect on the video (on the link) but I could not film it with my phone because the LED daytime running lights make too much light and blind the camera 😆. I didn't connect the turning signal lights.

Could you post some photos, how you connected them to the DRL Fuse. I have sequential led indicators with DRL at home, but was hesitant to install it as the DRL are very low on the MK2.

The fuses box is near the battery.

F4 = Daytime running lamps = 20A

With a mini fuse tap you can take the +12v. I used a 7.5A fuse for the led strips on the top holes On the bottom place the original 20A.

For the chassis ground, there is a nice bolt under the air intake plastic box.
Just use one lug (6mm hole). The wire can go inside the fuse box true an existing hole on the bottom of the plastic.
