Changing the headlamp bulb

Hi all.
First time poster here. Have had my RCZ for almost 3 years now and it really is (as for most of you) my pride and joy. My headlamp is out (the middle light) and I would actually like to be able to do some stuff to do with the car myself....and not be such a girl!

Does anyone have any advice on if this is easy enough to do....and maybe even will be good enough to explain exactly what I need to do. It is only £25 in my garage so money isn't the issue.....would just like to be able to do some things myself.

Thanks in advance.

£25 to change a bulb. Now that would be an issue for me.
Its a simple task. Remoove plastic cover. Unclip bulb, pull off wire connector, put connector onto new bulb, try not to touch glass of new bulb, replace bulb opposite to removal.
Now the hard bit.
Do you keep the £25 for a rainy day or go down your local and spend it celebrating on becoming a qualified auto electrician.
I know what I would be doing.

It is slightly more difficult than Jactac suggests as you can't really see what you are doing. You have to "feel your way" (name that tune Jassy;) )

I found undoing and reattaching the spring clip the fiddliest bit mostly because you can't see what you're doing and because of the awkward angle. But don't be put off, it's just a matter of patience, and possibly a small mirror would help. And obviously don't try to remove the old bulb until it's cooled down, they get super hot! At least the halogen ones do, no idea about the hid type as I don't have the vision pack on mine.

As mentioned above, never touch halogen bulbs with bare fingers, the oils on your skin will react with the glass and intense heat and will cause premature failure of the bulb. Handle by the metal part only.

Hi PEEPS aye changing them dreaded bulbs not the easiest thing to do :( Best advice is if try it yourself  is when releasing the spring clips Squeeze and pull them up as there is two cusp's/hook's that stop the clips from just springing off"RELEASE 1 SPRING AT A TIME" and also its best to replace both bulbs as there will be a definite shade difference between the old and new bulb and even better still replace both OEM bulbs with phillips 100% vision plus bulbs

But to save your Temper flaring i would just buy a set of the new 100% phillips bulbs and pay just £25 for the 2 bulbs to be replaced.

Oh come on peeps.
£25 to change a bulb, that takes about 10 mins if you take your time and "fiddle" about a bit.

Tell you what, change the bulb yourself and give the 25 quid to cancer research.
That way you will certainly feel better about yourselves and it will make it all worthwhile you getting a little frustrated and gaining the odd scratch on your little twinkies whilst "feeling your way around".

Just close your eyes, undo the clasp, insert your fingers , feel around for something that you want to tug on, the rest is will come naturally, nothing like a fumble in the dark

I'm with Jactac. You could upgrade your bulbs with the money saved and gain a small sense of satisfaction for having done it yourself. You'll be banging in an air filter and all sorts next. From small acorns and all that.

Jass that is SO decent of you!!!!   I just wish I lived closer! I'd have sold my own mother to get my hands on that wheel. Unfortunately I'm away the next 4 days and can't see a way to come down ahead of you having to hand that wheel back. Id have given you something for it as that's TOO generous but gutted doesn't cover it! :( Might have taken the brake LEDs off you too as one of mine died within a fortnight and haven't heard anything from young Steven about a replacement yet. :(

You would have been cheaper just painting the whole headlamps blue.................7500k is useless in the winter even 5000k is crap and if you have a 6000k hid units fitted then your just asking for trouble from......... :law-policered: :law-policered:
