Chance meeting with an R Type !

Yesterday, I attended a football tournament near Warwick with my son, who was playing in the Under-12 section.

Shortly after we arrived, I heard a group of boys shouting "Woah, look at that car !". I turned and saw an RCZ in Moroccan Red. I could see the spoiler deployed even though he was just crawling along - could it be an R Type ?

Being the sociable (nosey?) sort, I walked across to try to have a chat with the owner. He introduced himself as Mark. I asked him if he was on the RCZ forum - he said he wasn't a member as such, but was aware of the forum as he was Head of Product Development, Peugeot UK !

He was a really nice chap, let me sit in the cabin (love the leather/Alcantara grippy seats and red stitching!), and also let me start her up - wow, what an engine noise - made my Mark 1 HDi sound distinctly "agricultural" (though I still love her)

I was left thinking "I have to have this car ..."

If the seats were Alcantara it was probably an R

Spoiler deployed? Nope, cannot be an R. They have a bigger, fixed spoiler

Sorry, wasn't very clear in my original post - it definitely WAS an R - when I said "spoiler deployed even though he was crawling along", I meant that it clearly had a fixed spoiler - sorry for confusion !

R type :eusa-think: being extremely pedantic here, but that Model designation doesnt belong to the RCR-R..anyhow Poles apart the RCZ-R and a Derv RCZ, but its something realisticly to aspire to own :thumbup:

That's what I thought too Didn't want to be pesky.
As you said above, the car is really special. After over 1500 miles in mine I'm still warming up to her but I can tell you each and every ride gets better and better.
Yesterday I took her for over 150 miles on deserted B roads. On my way I met a spanking new Ferrari 458 Spider and we flew together over crests and tight corners. He didn't mind as both cars were red, hehe. People were turning their heads all the time, yes, of course, because of that Ferrari. But later on I moved on and the head-turning continued.
Especially the sound gets nice when you really warm her up. You crawl thru narrow, old towns and the exhaust blares deeply, old chaps sitting at the road gazing at you when you pass. I hardly ever turn on the music when driving :lol:

Glad you liked the 'R', i must admit, it was a perfect day for it, the red really gleams in the sunshine. I thought your Amber red one looked stunning also, it was a great advert for the car !

In readiness for Goodwood Festival of speed we have the record breaking 208 Pikes Peak car in our reception - it's gunning for the hill climb record this weekend, so we have our fingers crossed.

Hi again Mark - nice to see you back on the forum, it seems a fun place to be with lots of people passionate about "the car that chooses you" ! don't be a stranger ;-)

I'm afraid my son's team had an early exit - but at least we missed the traffic ... good luck on the Goodwood hill climb.

And RCZ-R - I am of course green with envy
