Car shaking, seriously

It's quite hard to explain, but I'll try my best and I hope some good soul can help me with that.
When starting the car, any time (morning or afternoon), until the engine is warmer (usually 10-15 minutes) the car vibrates quite a lot when stationary. Feels like it's going to stall. As it happens quite often (I would say 8 in 10 times, I'm used to it. It's just annoying as the car (petrol) sounds like an old pickup truck.
My main concern, if there's reason to be, is when driving in town and when joining a motorway, in the moment I'm accelerating more, more precisely when the car is going over 50 or 60mph I can notice the car holds for a second, shaking and them boost. I was wondering if it was something to do with the spoiler being deployed, but happened even when the spoiler was in stage 1 and accelerating a bit more. When the car is over 60mph, never happened.
Any ideas?

I wonder if it's something to do with a coil pack.
There is one per cylinder and, if they develop a fault, the engine shakes a lot because only 3 of the 4 cylinders are firing.

Because, from what you describe, it sounds like it is intermittent, perhaps it gets better as things warm up? I believe others have had this issue, although I don't think it's very common. I had it on a 306 gti6 I had ten or so years ago, and the engine sounded like a bag of bolts.

One way to check is to disconnect just on coil at a time, i.e. reconnecting the previous one before disconnecting the next. When you disconnect a good one, the engine should sound worse. When you disconnect a bad one (if there is a bad one), it should make no difference.

If you find a bad one, you could confirm it is the coil by moving the it to another cylinder. If it's the coil, the fault should follow the coil. If not, it could then be the spark plug or the wiring. If that's the case, you could inspect the plug, either cleaning, moving or replacing it.

I agree with Pete. I used to run a V8 Discovery that behaved exactly the same way. It didn't have a coil pack per cylinder but one for each V though. What you describe sounds like coils to me.

Yip pulling out of junctions foot down car shakes like hell and goes nowhere that's the coil packs for sure. Had them change 4 times on my bimmer before it was sorted.

One thing I perhaps should have said in my earlier post: it's probably better to stop the engine before dis/re- connecting things, mostly from a personal safety viewpoint. I wouldn't want you to get either an electric shock or become entangled in moving machinery.

Thanks for the replies. Will book the car in for Monday. My concern is that my local dealer is a joke. I have the extended warranty, but they just find something wrong when isn't covered by the warranty. Looking for a good place in or next to Cambridge. Any suggestions? Once the problem is iddentified, I can go to the dealer and start the battle to get the things sorted.

Whatever you do don't use stoneacre Peugeot. I've had nightmares with them. I've reached the point with my rcz I'm taking it on a truck to Peugeot head office and dumping it outside.

Quick update. The car sorted itself from yesterday. Not a single symptom. I may wait to the point it shows as often as before or even breake and them claim the insurance. Can't leave the car in for few days and get an "everything is fine" or "it's normal for this car". As much as I live my RCZ, when the warranty expires (Sep 2016), I'll go down another path. Right now I can't decide what I really want, but in my experience with Peugeot dealers, so far, makes hard to go with Peugeot again. Sad but it's even worse when you have to stay without your car, many times without cortesy car, due to some simple thing, that happens with ever car, but they make such a big deal and most of the time, pretend to deny any faulty. Right now Peugeot don't need better cars, they need better dealers, to give customers more confidence when deciding to spend quite large sums and don't be terrified to stay with a car after the warranty expires.

sorry to hear you're leaving mate but I can understand it. Guess I'm lucky that my dealer seems to really value me and my custom. unlike the one 30 miles down the road . So variable and yet all under one 'brand' although really it boils down to which motor group the belong to these days..
Be careful if you go Audi I have heard its just the same with them....and see the notes elsewhere on here about the engine problems they're hiding from UK clients....
