Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could help me on what to do about my rcz... I’ve had it for 2 years now and it’s 9 years old. Basically the engine makes such a loud noise when I first start it up until I get into 5th gear and it seems to go. Also a noise like metal expanding keeps happing. I brought warranty with the car, and have told them about the noise 6months ago when I had it serviced but they told me it was fine. I have been told by a friend that it’s the timing chain and tensioner. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this?

If you could maybe film it with your phone (on your drive, not down the motorway in top gear! lol) and upload it so we can hear it, I'm sure somebody can definitely help you out. My first guess would be the timing chain on its way out though as your friend suggested.

Timing chain issue sounds like a rattle
A lot of owners will have heard it , unfortunately it's a common issue and will cost about £1000 to replace at a dealer.

Could be almost anything you need to get it checked out by someone who knows what they’re doing, timing kit replacement shouldn’t cost you much more than £600 from a dealer some inflate the price but phone round for best price.

Mine was a warranty claim so I guess they charged top dollar.

Timing chain tensioner is usually the 1st pointer but if the chain is original it may need a new Kit Secondly if the noise disappears in 5th gear it may be the dual mass flywheel/thrust bearing is knickered?
