Car leasing

So are all these cheap lease deals a con. Vw have cancelled loads of peoples leasing agreements just weeks before folks are due to get their cars. Seemingly the leasing company's have been slightly economical with the truth. Putting all lease deals throu as business leases instead of personal leases which should be more expensive. So all the 30 grand cars being available for £265 per month are about to become history. Not aware about Peugeot but interesting all the same.

Re: Car leasing

Oops. I'd always assumed it was because the annual mileage were very low. I looked at some and I'd have done the annual mileage in 4 mths.

Re: Car leasing

So VW will have a few thousand Golf R's parked up in a field somewhere :eusa-think: I have seen this deal £191+ VAT..5k miles 6pence per mile after this,8k miles £219..etc.This deal has been on going virtually since the Golf R was introduced :wtf:

Re: Car leasing

Think it's dawned on vw that a shed load of R's are gonna appear on the used market in 2 years, and they're figured the resale value is gonna drop like a stone not what they want for there flagship golf. The current 6R's are getting 22 grand trade in at 2 year old that ain't gonna happen with the 7 with hundreds flooding the market at once. Brokers have been putting cars throu as sole trader leases as in the recipient is self employed. So getting the lower business lease rate for all lease's :).

Re: Car leasing

Leased a few cars in my time including my current one. All depends on current stock. I got a cracking, too-good-to-be-true deal on a Scirocco a few years ago as the car was a mis-build. Basically a load of UK cars ended up with the wrong alloy wheels on (the model of alloy that was on european cars of the same spec) so a number of car leasing brokers were pushing these. I ended up with a higher spec'd car at a much lower price than my local VW dealer could quote on a basic car with the right wheels ( I just changed the wheels myself anyway and then put the originals back on when it was due to go back)

Prior to that I leased an Audi at a much lower rate than my local Audi dealer could come near. Turns out the broker had a volume deal with another Audi dealer that gave them a bigger discount and I collected the car straight from that dealer.

There's a lot of good deals to be had but you rarely find out the reasons for it till after the fact. I doubt it's anything to do with Business vs Personal on your earlier post as the cost that the end customer pays every month is actually the same. It's then up to them to claim the VAT relief. The only difference between business and personal with the lessor is that they simply quote the price for biz as ex-VAT.

Re: Car leasing

Its not great for residuals at all,but its a depreciating asset...leasing has a lot of positive's if you want the Basic spec, but add options, it then becomes silly money, the golfs R's came with SD based SATNAV...and the DSG gearbox was a extra £25/month.Still these cars need to go to somewhere...Cracking car

Re: Car leasing

So it's now official if u can't provide evidence that ur self employed all golfR deals at £265 per month have been withdrawn. Vw will not do personal leases on any more golfR's. So all those lucky enough to get their cars enjoy. All the rest if it's to good to be true it usually is bs :).
