Barring high mileage elongation sure its not the tensioner which can & will go before the chain starts its death rattle

Think it’s to late for that Pedro , I’m getting quoted 700 inc vat from a independent Peogout specialist an Peogout themselves is north of 800 an I’m not sure that includes the vat , my garage I normally use hasn’t done one an therefore is quoting a 1,000 but that’s out the question I don’t want someone learning on my car !

Prices have gone up for everything and the cost of repairs seem to be on the up too, I paid under £600 for mine at a Peugeot dealership including the VAT but that was almost 7 years ago

Iv got the quote back the car , is going in on the 28th for a cam chain at a cost of £935.00 with a independent Peogout specialist who happens to run a diesel rcz and the brakes are going on this weekend so that’s £2,000 plus a few other bits over the year so I’m looking at 2,500 in a year so I hope that is enough for a poorly maintained car plus a couple of Chinese remoulds at 200 so guess the 700 was of the top of there head

Yours has to be one the best running Z s out there apart from mine!!!!

My wife says you don’t stop tinkering and when are you gonna look at mine I tell her soon ! B class merc ) Ps an I had a accurate quote back from Peogout in Norwich for the cam chain to be done … an you need to be sitting down £1,239 ouch , covid is to blame for the prices going up .
I wish they would change the record

I suspect that is just the chain kit as in the earlier variants it was recommended to change both cam sprockets & the crank seal plus the pulley bolt when replacing the chain set up because the cogs teeth wear out at a unbelievable rate on these engines & I suspect its the same with the facelift models also which may contribute to so many unexplained chain failures aside from poor oil services
I wonder if your missus is sick of seeing your bum sticking out from under the Z s bonnet?

In a word … yes she is an yes to to the cam chain it’s a full kit an incudes a oil change so the engine should be clean as I only changed the oil the week before last
