LGN just had a full service and an ITV (MoT) inspection.
It FAILED the ITV.
"WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Well sir, [all in Spanish of course] it is a bureaucratic problem with the papers."
"WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Don't panic sir; do you use the tow bar?"
"No, it just happened to be on the car, as bought."

Here in Spain, the ITV includes testing the towing installation; i.e. the hitch, mounting, and electrics.
All appears to be OK, except it also has to be a homologated set up and to have been certificated when fitted.
That was the problem.
It was fitted in Switzerland, from where it was imported, and although a homologated Peugeot approved optional extra, when it was imported, it was not certificated and associated by paperwork with the car (VIN).

"So why no panic, then?"
"If you don't use it, shall we take it off?"
"Please do so!"

So as part of the service they removed the whole lot and also levelled up the quad exhaust, because it was wonky, to avoid part of the towing fixture.

ITV pass!

What a palava!

You'd live for a while in ze Germany, the headquarters of the EU. And then deal with MOT here. It is a mess. You cannot touch almost anything on your car without having it to be validated by a TÜV guy + paper work. And of course, money.
I lost any drive to modify my cars at all. I just don't want to deal with those EU idiots anymore.

Two years on and LGN has just sailed through the ITV (MoT).
The workshop fixed a couple of annoying things - rear park assist not available, and the TPMS telling fibs.
Park assist was a dodgy connection in the boot; might have been disturbed taking the tow bar off year before last, and TPMS sensors either replaced or new batteries.
Total cost 140 euros, cash! including test fees.
In the pre-test check they put LGN on the brake test rollers, and the mechanic called all his mates to watch as he'd never seen such figures, and perfect balance before; nice to know.
Two years to next ITV.
