Broke air intake pipe

I’ve got a split air intake pipe new one arrived today but when I drove with the split pipe my temp gauge didn’t move up to the normal 90 degrees it stayed on 0 is that normal if the pipe is split ?

They can do if they are continuously taken on & off the car plus all the intakes the suffer with heat issues as most modern cars do as everything around the Engine is plastic or to put it more bluntly Crapstic!
