Board Index ?

What would the chances be of putting up a MK1(Rev1) MK2 (Rev2) RCZ R topic addition to the board index ?

I think with the variants in the car now it wouldn't do any harm and would also help people navigate and post in reference to their models, you never know it might even help alleviate some other factors as well.

not a bad idea but you've just given the mods a heck of a job sifting through all the posts to see if they relate to mk1, mk2 or R

I think it may be devisive,Members have their own thoughts on the variants for differnet reasons, budget, actual looks etc.
The subject has been a sore point with some in the past i think.Best left alone to open comment.

I know what you mean but could new groups not be added and the current ones can still be functional on the main board ? It doesn't have to be a MK1 (Rev1) group with a mods, technical issues etc in there like on the main board, just let the owners create their own topic heading within that group, be it a mod they're doing or an issue they're having etc and if people choose to keep contributing to topics in the main board they still can but it would be kinda like gradually herding cattle into their own field. I may well be way off with my thinking here and it might have more problems than I'm thinking of but it's just an idea.

I personally have conflicting views on this. Many Mk1 and mk2 issues and problems will be the same regardless of which they have so we will have multiple repostings of the same issues in the various areas and some answers sought may not be answered because of the area they are posted. It will also potentially divide the forum or stifle threads. I am a member of another forum in which the different models all have separate areas as well as communal ones. This is great for some reasons (but bear in mind that these are each totally unique models) but also it reduces the interaction between members.

Furthermore, I believe that there may be the belief/hope that this might end the unnecessary baiting of Mk1 owners by a minority of owners . Sadly I don't believe that this will actually be the case. However, if this baiting is of a personal nature and bullying/harassing then it will be a violation of the terms and conditions of membership and please rest assured that appropriate sanctions will be taken.

These are only my personal views and I will put it forward to the wider team and we always welcome suggestions on how to improve the site so thank you for a considered and worthy proposal. I (or another member of the team) will get back to you.

Just like to say i thought this was an open forum. As long as no personal attacks on individuals i dont see any problems.I do of course take offence to veiled threats re banning.. 3 strikes etc as previously stated.i sometimes wonder if the rcz forum has become a voice for another forum, and somewhat of a self interest to members that would like to have the forum to themselves.Like a kind of pet.And in my time here i have felt that im sorry to have to say that. This is a forum, not a personal
ownership thing that if you dont agree with others..hey lets ban them, and continue living in our own wee world. It would be better if those folk left here and focused their attention on their alternative forum. They had their time, but now its over in my opinion.Thats if i am allowed to express it that is.

I completely agree with you here!! The difference (physically) between both models is quite minor and the exclusivity of the R means that there is no need to separate the different models on the board index but also more importantly I would be concerned that this division might alienate some members and some of the most knowledgeable persons on this forum are MK1 owners. I'll be damned if we lose this expertise and knowledge

Forum structure to remain as is.......

Well, I think it's wrong to make the assertion - unsubstantiated, I might add - that mk 1 owners are the most knowledgeable.

That's not automatically true. They may very well own a mk 1 but have only had it a short while. They may have once owned a mk 1 but moved on to a mk 2. You have no way of knowing.

Wooly thinking methinks.

I think if someone has a question, they really wouldn't give a monkeys whether the forum member that provides the answer owns a Sport a GT an R a Mk1 Mk2 Golf R Astra, whatever.... So long as the answer is what they are looking for.

I have very little experience with the Z, but I would like to think that I have helped quite a few people out in the short time I have been on here.

I know that I have been helped out many times, and to be honest, I never checked what they were driving, might have been a Reliant Robin for all I know, I just know that they helped me when I needed it.

Advice often comes from the most unlikely place, the trick is to know which advice to take, not to ask what the advisor drives.

Just sayin :eusa-whistle:

It was quantified there though Pete. Renegade did say, "SOME (sorry not shouting but using for emphasis as I can't access bold on Tapatalk) of the most knowledgeable owners are...". I think that you are both correct and that both views are equally valid.

I did use the word "SOME" Pete - meaning not everyone! :eusa-whistle: But of course even if said members no longer drive an RCZ their input can be still beneficial.
