I've just started using the Carchem snowfoam. Foams up well and has excellent cleaning abilities. Very impressive and at £16.99 for a 5ltr its a very good buy. A little goes a long way. This picture was taken after about 5 mins of dwell time and I used about 5mm and 750ml of warm water.

Perky, you want the Valet Pro ADVANCED ph neutral snow foam. Its even better if you use it as a pre wash in a chemical sprayer diluted 1:20.

I did try out some Angelwax snow foam at the weekend, which cleaned really well. I put a drop of Auto Finesse Citrus Power in too. Car almost didn't need a hand wash,

I know it's all personal preference but I don't think just power washing the car down removes as much dirt as when using a pre wash or snow foam. I've tried all ways and I think you get a better clean using them. Always remember, rinse pre wash or snow foam, power washing from the bottom up.

As you may know I've had my Z now for about 6 weeks. I've read lots on here about detailing and to be honest have never considered having any car I've owned before detailed. But the RCZ is so damned nice I just think it deserves that bit of extra special attention.

I would like to learn to do it properly myself and may well attend one of those courses I've read about on here. But in the mean time what does this snow foam do? Is it just a pre wash degreaser type chemical to make the wash easier :?:

I'd suggest that you have a good read of RCZ1s detailing guide and invest in some of her recommendations. The advice is absolutely invaluable and has steered many of us into detailing. I love her...my bank balance...not so much!!

I still keep a printed copy of this for reference.

Awww Mr Rizz - he loves me :)

Jimbrodie - yes snow foam / pre wash is like a degreaser. It helps to break down and get rid of the worst if the dirt / crud before physically placing a wash mitt on the car, which then can cause swirls and scratches. There are lots on the market but you have to be careful which you choose. If you imagine that the local Polish car wash people for example, want to get as many cars cleaned in as short a space of time as possible therefore they use a very aggressive snow foam or pre wash to do the job quickly but beware as it will strip any protection that you have on the car as well as causing damage to alloys. You need something that is pH neutral and therefore kind to your paintwork.

Maybe we should organise another detailing day for those who want to learn more about it and the processes used?

Sounds like a great idea to me. I for one would be up for it.

Polished mine for the first time today by hand and was very surprised by the number of small scratches and swirls on it.

If using it as snow foam then an inch in the foam bottle topped up with water.

If using as a pre wash- in a chemical sprayer. Mine is 3L so dilute 1:20. 1 part product, 20 parts water.

Just ordering some Valet Pro now. It's a shame UF don't do a foam gun (they only appear to do lances)

Catherine. Is there any chance that you could stop using acronyms, so that old ignorant farts like myself might be able to have full benefit of your posts. Please. I just hate being the one always to ask what things mean :helpme:
