Hi guys please can somebody advise us what is the best engine to go for, we can't afford a new car but with the three engine specs we are a little confused, we do around 7000 a year. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First off rule out the Diesel as you only do 7k miles a year and on that mileage diesel is a big waste of money. What car do you drive just now is the question, more to the point whats the bhp in the car? my point being if the car your driving just now is the average family saloon powered= 125bhp roughly, then go for the 156 bhp variant, but if your used to more power go for the 200 bhp gt,l mistakingly downsized from 200 bhp to 156 bhp big dissapointment

I agree with that others have said. The Diesel engine really isn't cost effective with the mileage that you do and then it comes down to how much power you want.

I went for the diesel as although I love the 1.6 petrol engine I am worried about the timing belt issue. Same reason I won't buy a 207gti or a mini cooper s... I would rather have a rcz than a 208 gti!! I'm hoping the 270 r has fixed the fault.... As I will be very tempted to get one when the price drops!
