Hi guys
Having bit of a problem with my rcz 1.6 2011
Noticed last couple of weeks that car didn't start very well after it was
Cold and today after driving to work and restarting again it was dead and had the clunk clunk clunk of the starter motor
So got it jumped and started no problem!
Just wanted to know if I can charge the battery on the car has says in manual not too,or is it best to get new battery
If so is it easy job of just changing over to new
Battery, also noticed since I jumped it the petrol gauge has not increased since I filled up! Still saying
Fuel level too low! Is this related to the battery problem

Thanks

You have to disconnect the battery before you charge the battery. Otherwise you can blow the on board computers. You might need to reset the computer to reactivate your fuel gauge.

There is also a procedure for jump starting the engine in the manual, to stop spiking the system.

Try resetting the Bsi. Below is the procedure I believe.

Put the driver’s window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all
equipment is switched off.
Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the
ignition.
Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait
15 seconds.
Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do
not open doors.)
Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
Switch on the ignition and check system’s functionality.
Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
remove key open & close door test central locking system
Start the engine and complete the system’s check.
Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many
BSI related items.

This may help with the fuel gauge issue.

Hi,

this procedure is always mandatory when we charge or change the battery? And is the same for petrol and diesel?

best regards,
