I do not use my diesel RCZ very much. Can I use a trickle charger connected to the mains to prevent the battery from becoming flat?

I just got back from a 3 week vacation. My Z was parked at home for the duration as we got a taxi to the airport & back. When I turned the car on, before starting up there was a message on the dash - economy mode active.
Then, it started first time, no problems at all.

Economy mode is to allow the engine to start by shutting down everything else to make sure there is enough power to start the engine
