Have the JBL Option as mentioned but it seems the front speakers, don't know if it's the door ones or the window ones that have some sort of cracking/crackled sound. As if they were broken in some way.

It varies a little from song to song, some are better and some are worse. It is barely noticeable but once you know it's there you hear nothing but that sound no matter how small.
This is heard when playing from a USB stick and i only have 320 kbps songs so there shouldn't be any weird sounds present.

Would replacing speakers be a warranty issue or would they just laugh at me and say live with it?

Warranty issue. You cannot live with a poor music system, sorry not possible.

I should think so. It is really starting to get to me. I didn't notice it when i bought the car but it's as if it's gone worse, or it's just because i know it's there.

I complained to my dealer about the same problem. Exactly as you've described.

They seated the cables and connectors to the speakers. It's been perfect since.

It would seem the connectors are not seated correctly on some installations and when there power gets amped up they break down.

I just reread your last sentence. Never 'live with it'. I would be devastated to spend that much on car and sound to be expected to live with a second rate experience.

I was thinking it could just be the cables too that were loose. Makes sense cause it sort of sounds something like that.

I'm no expert, but son used to be an audio fitter for Halfords, and he tends to agree that loose fitting connectors will cause interference through the speakers and also badly laid cables can be a problem. :eusa-think:
But he also said there could be many other reasons for audio interference, ie :
EMI - ElectroMagnetic Interference & RFI - Radio Frequency Interference.

Here's what he sort of said

- Even in the newest of cars, the current supplied from the alternator is not 'clean,' due to the way contacts are constantly being switch within the alternator as it spins. This causes the current in power lines connected to the same battery to fluctuate very slightly and very rapidly. This is also the reason for a whine increasing in pitch with engine speed.
- Coil packs for spark plugs are constantly charging and uncharging, there rate dependent on engine speed as well.
- Indicators are causing a constant load and unload on the entire system when being used, causing the current to fluctuate.
- Electronic PAS motors are taking large amounts of current in uneven patterns, causing the current to fluctuate.
- Due to the nature of a permanent magnet motor, where contacts are constantly being switched as the amateur rotates, current fluctuates. Hence using wipers, electric windows etc can cause interference.
- Even the audio system itself is drawing power in an uneven fashion to provide current for powerful bass notes etc.

In other words, there's hell of a lot of electrical components that could cause bad sound through the speakers.

Good earths are essential, all connections must be sound , powered cables and audio cables should not be running inline with each other.

So basically a good audio installation would be something like :
- Run power lines and RCA cables down separate sides of the car.
- Use shielded RCA cables.
- Only use cables of the length you require - measure up and buy the shortest cable that will reach.
- If avoidable, don't wind up the excess.
- Consider using ferrite rings on your cables.
- Consider fitting a suppression capacitor to the alternator.
- Ensure you have a good earth.
- Ensure the head unit has a power supply choke.

Anyway Tomas best bet take it back under warranty and let them sort it out, I would imagine that all the above has been covered and your problem is down to something simple.

Well i had the car to the service about this long ago now but they couldn't find anything wrong there, but he said they added a little padding of sorts inside the driver side door just in case. Naturally it didn't help. :(

Altho i have now noticed after some lengthy testing that it doesn't seem to actually be the speakers that are bad. If you play MP3's that are 320kbps or more the sound is great. But ANYTHING under 320kbps, even 256kbps i get this cracking sound.

Even if i play the exact same songs on the computer at home or in any other car or stereo system this is not noticeable, only in the RCZ! :(

CD works fine in mine, i've tried that, but only with one CD for testing if it worked. I don't use CD's at all, only the USB.

So long as all your tracks were tagged when you ripped them (almost certainly they were if you downloaded them rather than ripped them yourself) then the RCZ should recognize them when you select the USB input as the source. If you've got a lot of tracks on a USB stick it can take a while for them to be picked up.

Yes you can have multiple albums on a stick :) Just copy what you want onto the stick, plug it into the USB socket in the storage area under the armrest, turn the radio on, select USB as the input source and the tracks should all be there. If you've put lots of tracks/albums on the stick it can take a minute or so before they're recognised and made available to you but I'm taking hundreds of albums here.

The RCZ's radio will read the Tag data that's stored within each track (e.g. song name, artist etc.) so it doesn't matter what the actual filename is that you see in Windows Explorer (or whatever the Apple equivalent is.)

Press the List button on the radio and use the up/down/left/right and OK buttons to navigate to and choose the song you want to play.

Hope this helps.

I have the JBL system but as i've not had a chance to listen to the original speakers i can't really compare. People say they sound pretty similar tho.
