This week's Auto Express magazine (issue 1177) names the RCZ winner of the 2011 Best Coupe in its annual new car awards

Highly commended, but well beaten :p, were the TT and Scirocco.

"The flagship THP200 is the stand-out choice in the RCZ range. It sprints fro 0-60mph in 7.3s and has agile handling to match. The short-throw gearbox, grippy chassis and responsive streering give it the edge over rivals. And it all comes wrapped in the most eye-catching bodywork around."

Can't say I disagree

jassyo06...no need to get the hump just because a large organisation that gets to test all the cars back to back disagrees with your view. You may want to reflect on your post as Auto Express might not be happy with people suggesting they take bribes for awards......

I guess you think Top Gear also got it wrong when they voted it their coupe of the year too??

And yes the 200 does have a short throw gear shift, about 30% shorter than a standard 156 as it has the interior sport kit as standard.

If you are truely unhappy with your RCZ why dontyou buy yourself out of your lease and move on?

The optional extra sports pack on my HDi, will it be exactly the same as on the 200BHP petrol?

i am honest and under no circumstances infatuated with rcz they could have a 250thp gt it still wouldnt drive the way a sports coupe should bumbling about the road the 200bhp as you say has shorter throw gearbox but the steering is the same,no i wont get rid the rcz just now,as i start a new job this coming week and may upgrade after the winter to something better/different

Do you think autoexpress and top gear are not being honest ?

They simply do not agree with your view of the car and how it drives and have rewarded the car as they see fit.

For most people the magazines view is based on back to back comparisons with all the cars comptetitors and will take precident over yours...but you are fully entitled to your view.

good luck with the new job.

best regards

Marcus

thanks for the good wishes with the job marcus :)

maybe i should in HINDSIGHT got another hothatch my type R fn2 Was a real drivers car i truly miss that :(

i just feel a bit deflated with the drive of rcz even if i had gone for the 200thp gt i would no doubt feel the same you mention the sports pack which consists of a foot rest smaller steering wheel, and a sound box for £350???these elements Alone dont transform the drive of a car the steering/suspension/chassis set up do.the rcz is fine if coming from another peugeot 207/308..........or whatever other peugeot model. due to circumstances i down graded in a way but my circumstances have changed

i have had my say on the rcz its" EYE CANDY"...........ITS NOT A BAD CAR FAR FROM IT JUST A BIT DULL TO DRIVE SADLY,THIS IS MY LAST DEROGARTY COMMENT ON THE RCZ as i know it does piss peeps off

You are entitled to your opinion. However for me personally to read your posts "piss me off" not sure what a peep is? because you say the same thing over and over. If the car fails to deliver for you, change it, You chose to get what you have and so it was your poor choice. This is not a boy racer car. Go and soup up a Vauxhall Nova or whatever the kids play with these days. This is "eye candy" for us fossils. Please leave us to enjoy our dotage in peace.

"....but of most concern was the ride. Sitting on big 19-inch wheels, you wouldn’t expect the RCZ to be particularly comfortable – but at the start of our test period it was. Firm, yes, but not crashy.

As the months went by, though, the ride deteriorated dramatically. Every speed bump sent a jolt through the cabin, while I found myself actively avoiding potholes and ruts. Motoring writer Luke Madden tested a totally fresh RCZ Asphalt back-to-back with our long-termer and found a huge difference in comfort, indicating a significant degree of wear and tear.

With only 10,000 miles on the clock, that would be a worry for me. But in every other respect I’ll really miss the RCZ. It does everything a coupe should do: it turns heads and puts a great big smile on your face."

Ohhhh Noooooo....dodgy suspension issues...now everytime Sharkie gets a ride I keep thinking "hmmmm that does feel a little firmer"... 7K on the clock!
