Auto Lights

Hi,

I always have the Auto Lights function on as it's safer when driving around for other Drivers to see you
Great feature and really pleased that it's part of the standard package.

On my last car, same function and lasted the four years that I had the car with no problem.
Probably still going to this day.

My front near side light has blown. This car is only 10 months old
If you're going to fit Auto Lights Peugeot, then at least put a bulb in that can cope with being on all the time

Anyone else use the Auto Lights function and had their bulb blown.
If so, do you know how long it takes to change i.e. are you in / out of the Dealership in 20 minutes or is it an all day job as they have to dismantle the entire light ??

Please don't tell me it's a sealed unit and you have to change the lot :helpme:

Will look at the manual / light tomorrow (Saturday) to get a better idea. Might be lucky in that I can change it myself.

Anyone know if Peugeot do a more hardy, long lasting bulb.
Am happy to pay rather than going back every 10 months or so to keep replacing bulbs.

Maybe I'm just unlucky so far, maybe this is the Peugeot build quality :eusa-think:

PS Jactac, this may be the light you were referring to before ?? For some reason, I thought you meant the rear light.

No m8, it was definitely front nearside , just caught a glimpse as you went past the speed camera, going towards Tesco past the school playing fields.

Yes, that is the one.

Had a good look at the manual / bulb today.

Running Light is completely black - blown out
Hasn't lasted 8 months

Have to say that the access to the light assembly and the bulbs themselves is excellent
The manual is very good as well, even tells which you which to leave alone for Dealer change only
Ordered a set of two bulbs: £3.49
(Not from Dealer)

I've gone for exact replacements at the moment, as I want to test them in position to make sure it doesn't keep blowing for some other reason.
If sound, then I've found a good LED Light that is BRIGHT and will be much better

Still not chuffed that it is blown after such a short period, although at least changing it hasn't turned out to be the potential nightmare I was envisaging

Going to get tracked and balanced tomorrow as well - see if that sort's out my handling problem.

Been to Kwik Fit - surely they should be forced to change their name under Trade Descriptions
They could not have been any slower. In for 1.5 hours to balance two front tyres :? :wtf:

Both wheels took quite a bit of balancing, with a lot of "weights" being added.
Machine eventually registered "OK" so took their word they were right.
Anyway, after balancing, went back up the A465 (Dual Carriageway).
Between 70-80mph steering wheel "shudder" returned and slight pull to left.
Once you go "a little faster :eusa-whistle: " the shudder stops - and indeed slower. Just between these two speeds :eusa-think:

Went back to Slow-Fit as they advised if problem not solved, "nothing else we can do sir".
Why tell me to come back then you Muppet :brickwall:
To be fair, the Manager did offer me my money back, although I declined as they had done what they had set out to do.

Car booked in with Dealer (Swansea Branch - it's open during the days) now this Friday to see if they can examine / rectify.
See what happens, although I'm not expecting much - I really do hope I'm proved wrong.

Not sure why the wheels are playing up, as I haven't hit any potholes / kerbs/ etc :eusa-think:

i would go for leds they should last for ever and a day

Hope this is the case - they look quite "fancy" bulbs too. Comes with a resistor kit, not sure if I'll need it.

I sold my 308CC at 15 months at the end of May and bulbs were fine, always used auto lights. Also used the DRL's and still no bulbs gone.

That's good news, thanks Derek

Hopefully, this will just be a little niggle that has been easily resolved.

New bulb in now and all seems okay so far. Packaging on the bulb states that it lasts "3 times longer than an average bulb".

Still going to look at the LEDs though.

Gorwell,
See my post in the Forum on LED DRLs as I got mine for 99p for two.

Wow, how bizarre is that

Those are EXACTLY the LEDs I was looking at - although the Website I was on is charging £16 a pair
I liked the "fancy bulb" design and they seemed straight forward to put in.

The £16 pair come with a resistor pack in case the warning lights come on - do the 99p ones ??
Do you indeed actually need the resistor pack ??

Thanks for the heads-up - off to have a better look / read at the Site you found

Gorwell,
NO warning lights come on and the bulbs dim when the headlamps come on (as they should) all I got to do now is match the headlamp H7s in colour (if I can) so the do not look SO yellow.

BUT for 99p I am

Gorwell,
Just reading your post again, sorry. I got no extra bits (resistor packs or whatever) just the bulbs and they work great, no warning lamps. Just pop off the rubber cover, turn the bulb holder to release it, pull out, take out normal bulb, notice correct way round for bulb, fit LED bulb to match, put back in, put rubber cover back on, start car to try. Simple's..........

Now running the  "blue" tint H7 headlamp bulbs, they do not completely match the LEDs  but are a very cool "white" light. Got some LED headlamp bulbs on order just to try them out. No :law-policered: problems.
