The Astleyducks sign off and final report.
The best part of 40k miles and three years later, my dolphin blue pug is now in the hands of another.
It's been a bit of a roller coaster, the first two years of my tenure being rather plagued with issues, although she settled down in the final year and just got on with the job of making me smile.Yes there may be 'better' or 'faster' or 'more reliable' or 'blah blah' cars out there, but I'm glad that I chose with my heart, not my head.
From my first contact at the launch in Frankfurt, I knew I wanted one. As a first generation pug rcz, in the early days she literally turned heads wherever I went. I still love the shape today and had far more conversations about her than I would have done in a TT. I've not driven a second gen, but it looks as fabulous as ever.
My car was returned under the pcp agreement, as this was the best solution for me, although that meant an interesting meeting with the contract agent. I ensured that the hand-back was done at my local Peugeot dealership who had undertaken all the maintenance, warranty and repair work on the car. The inevitable, but short, list of faults and costs included a repair the dealer had done. The dealer stood by me and would have resolved the issue if it had been pursued by the agent. The agents team drivers and colleagues couldn't understand the agents attitude, commenting that the car was in fine condition. A testament to the original detailing by Bespoke and care by me subsequently. Happily the finance company has not pursued the claim, but for others, beware. They may be professionally correct; be aware that in practice there is no such thing as 'fair wear and tear', whatever the PCP contract terms.
Aside from the catching of reflections in shop windows on a daily basis, some highlights for me were meeting other owners at pugfest and the detailing day at Bespoke. Hi to RCZ1 ( and fellow shine/buffers) who I see has moved onto a second gen and doubtless keeps that as spotless as ever.
If there is a Phil or Phillipa reading this, you may want to check the for sale section and PM me, as I've given the forum first shout at the registration PH11 RCZ.
I've also got the pug 407 skinny space saver solution, that I bought from a forum member, that will also be going on sale.
That's about me done. I've moved onto something completely different, as Peugeot don't make a 3litre 4x4 RCZ yet.
Looking back with fond memories, and wishing all forum members and contributors a safe and peaceful Christmas.
