Anyone else's mirrors have short term memory loss?

This has been niggling with me for some time now, my mirrors keep forgetting where they are preset to tilt to or sometimes they refuse to tilt and come back to their regular position. At times they just seem to get stuck in two minds as to whether to tilt or not and just kind of "wobble" back and forth a minute distance doing neither. It's really bugging me now!! Tends to happen more often with the passenger side but both have the same issue. Anyone else experienced this before?

Rizzo,
have you altered your seat settings.
I found that if I alter my seat, even by just a bit, without saving the position it takes the mirrors out of auto mode, so they "wobble" around looking for somewhere to settle, but as soon as I press the set number on the side of the seat, 1 or 2, the mirrors go to the correct position.

Another thing it could be is that they are trying to get back to the correct "set" position but are jamming.

Have you had your replaced ?
Because the corrosion inside some of the mirrors is ridiculous, when mine were replaced, and I was shown the corroded alloy mechanisms of the old mirrors I was speechless

Cheers for the reply Jactac!! I haven't moved the seat any time recently but could have done so in the past. I'll maybe try re setting and re programming my current seating and mirror position and see if that helps. Good shout. Your description of them "wobbling" is EXACTLY the one I was striving for!!!

I have already had both mirrors replaced some time last year but, judging by the water that gets trapped in them, that's not to say they haven't corroded again.

The technician that replaced mine said "see you next year for another set", it was a tongue in cheek remark, but apparently even with the mod on the seals they are still corroding over time, it just slow things up a bit.

Might be worth having them checked out. :eusa-think:

They're not grinding yet but I suspect you're probably on the money. I have to get a few other things checked out too including the heat shield which I suspect is loose.

I'm planning on getting mine looked at during my tattie hols.

Oh...and in other dealership news, "our" dealership have entirely replaced their salesmen. No wonder I saw a bundle of them at Specialist cars. Apparently "they failed to come up to the Arnold Clark standard". Don't know what that says about Specialist though!!!

Now...that would be cool!!

Yup, Jactac that's the one. Get a horrible rumbling sound (and not the good racy kind) when I sit with the engine turning over at idle and give it the smallest amount of revs. It's also particularly bad when I reverse. Pretty certain that's what it is but can't get a good look at things in the driveway.
