Annoying Rattle

An annoying rattle has developed somewhere on the underside of the car, I felt it was central but the mechanic I use believes that its coming from the front end.
He has had a good look around, links and bushes all good, brakes and suspension springs all good, as is the exhaust and mounts. Mechanic seems to think that the front shocks are rattling as i drive over rough road surface, has anyone else had experience of this, for info RCZ was registered on the road in 2015 and has just under 50k miles on the clock.

A trick I was shown - Get yourself a rubber mallet, Under the car - gently tap on all you can see, any rattle should be easy to find.

The heat shield rattling was a pain in the arse on earlier models Poss fittings may be loose or rusted to death on yours ?
