BUT... Contrast:
When I pop over to Blighty, even an hour cross country from Gatwick is unwelcome.
Here in Spain a return trip to Madrid (approx 250kms each way) or one way (don't even do this in a day) to our holiday home in the South is 500kms.
Either, in the arm-chair 5008 is not a problem and I am still flexible (just) at the end.
But then traffic volumes on Autovia are most likely similar to fifty years ago in UK.
