I know another topic regarding upgrade of RCZ lights, but here is what I have done which to me looks great during the day or night, and are functional (give plenty of light and not be just for show only, as in blue or purple).

I tested a lot of bulbs and taken into consideration input by other members on this site to come to this result for me (thanks to those that have been dealing with this subject on this forum).

Since I live in the countryside it was important to me for the lights to produce plenty of light as I navigate dark windy roads.

Please note I have the Vision Pack:

A = PY P21W - Osram Diadem (I chose this bulb over the silver ones as the orange is truly better. When not in-use the bulb is seen as being blueish)
B = D1S - Phillips Ultra 6000K (I chose this bulb for bright white with a tint of blue. It also matches my fog lights)
C = H1 - Phillips Diamond Vision 5000K (since these are not used that often, I left them as halogen bulbs. As of now I unable find a quality 6000K version)
D = P21 - Ultimate Canbus 92 LED (with these on all of the time, these bulbs seemed to provide the best look from all of the ones I tested. They are a close match to my other bulbs when on, in regards to colour)
E = H8 - Xenon 6000K (converted to HID Xenon! My fog lights are definitely a lot brighter than stock and match my other lights)

Again as mentioned, I tested several bulbs and had failures along the way, such as trying LEDs for the direction indicators. It has taken me several months to do this but well worth it in the end. I have changed some of my rear lights as well (brake and registration plate lights are now LEDs).

All bulbs used are street-legal for the UK.

Thank you jassyo06, your input from other posts have been beneficial.

Yes the roads I drive on are well lit up now.

There is a huge difference between 6000K and 4300K. Yes the 6000K's are expensive, but oh well ;) I did have the 5000K installed before, but when I converted my fog lights to Xenons, they came in 6000K and so I had to change the DS1s as well.

I will post a photo at night as soon as possible.

Mr Z

You have caught my attention with this post. I too require the best headlamps available and legal. I have monocular vision and good headlamps make night driving far less tiring for me. If I was to purchase and have fitted all the bulbs that you specify, will I notice a difference over my standard "vision pack" OEM's ? I have fitted replacement DRL's already, however I am not overly impressed by their "blueness". So why have you done these modifications ? Purely for aesthetics or practical reasons ? What would be the estimated cost for all of the bulbs that you list and can they be purchased from a single source ? Any further info would be much appreciated. Cost is not an issue, but can the electrical system cope with these modifications ?

Thanks for reading my post and for some great questions, it is greatly appreciated and hopefully informational.

I can tell you that you will definitely experience better night time driving by upgrading all of your lights, just doing the DRLs will not do enough.

Since I live in a village in the countryside, most of my driving is on windy rural roads, and so it was necessary for me to see the road and surroundings better than what I had with stock bulbs. Aesthetics came with going with the best bulbs on the market, yes they cost more but I am a true believer in 'you get what you pay for'. So with my setup, it lights up everything much better with a true white light, not yellow (stock) and not blue. Everything is much clearer and is as close to day time driving as possible, whilst staying within the law.

As mentioned I went through several different bulbs, testing and determining what I like and what works best for me. I am not going to say my setup is for everyone, but the results are definitely well worth it. During my tests I did experience some electrical faults and weird results, but with my final setup I have none of these.

A big change that really helps when driving at night on non-lit roads, was changing my fog lights to HID Xenons. With the dipped beam and fog lights on, they light up everything really well as you see the sides of the road as well. Then when you go to main beam, oh my the night is no longer dark at all.

I used Autobulbs Direct for most of my bulb purchases, but for the fog lights it took me a while to find a source, and now I sell these on my new website (which I have not advertised before until now as it is still in build progress).

Go to http://rczperformance.com/.

Don't purchase anything at this moment until I have announced it is ready (this week), but take a look and let me know what you think.

Cheers.

Is it possible to give the exact info about lights D and E? I copied the info from the first post but the local parts dealer didn't have enough with it.
Besides that he told me if I changed my day lights with LED I might get a computer error/report because they would consume less power then the stock. Anybody had that pop up?

For those that asked or waited or just want to see, here are some photos of the lights in-use (sorry I am not a photographer so apologies in advance for the poor quality):

Most of the bulbs you can get from Autobulbs Direct, except for the fog lights. I will be selling them on my website, but it is not ready yet. So if you can wait I will let you know when the site is ready, probably Wednesday if all tests go as planned. I will be announcing it on this forum. I do plan on selling the bulbs you can get from Autobulbs Direct on my site as well, if I can work out a deal with them.

Thanks.

Ok, sounds great. But do you send to Belgium? :)
And what about the installation? Is it easy to do?

What a great topic, thanks!

I'd love to upgrade my lights - the 'yellow' is just PANTS! You have given really well detailed information (without me having to trawl though a huge amount of other posts to find out what I need). And it's great to see the photos of their performance.

Thing is.... how much is all these bulbs going to set me back? Forum discount?? :eusa-whistle:

Zombie - :text-goodpost: Absolutely wicked thread and the illustration of the effects of your improved lighting are awesome. I am astonished at how much illumination you now have. The "full effect" is awesome!!!

Could you also do a fitting service too? :). These lights look awesome. I would have no idea how to fit these and don't like playing around with electrics.

Don't know the rules in the UK but Philips Ultra Diamond bulbs are not allowed for road use in the EU.

And if you don't want the convert the foglights to HID-xenon. They're also available in the philips ultra diamond range. ;)

In your photo during daytime, I see that the drl is dimmer on the passenger side. Is it so?

I use 380/92 led for my rcz, not fully compatible.

Re: Zombie1066 upgrades all Front Lights on the RCZ

@ Ken - for now I sell only the fog light HID Xenon kit, and I can check into shipping to Belgium if you are interested in this kit. The kit is 85.99 GBP but I will need to charge extra for shipping to Belgium. Installation is not too difficult. If you have access to a lift (that lifts from the body and not the tyres), then you do not need to remove the wheels. But if you do not have access to a lift, then you will need to remove the wheels to access the fog light area. You can find the directions in your RCZ handbook. As for the other light bulbs, they can be bought from Autobulbs Direct. Also as mentioned, I am hoping to sell these from my shop as well (for less).

@ donnaj1dlh - thank you for the kind words. It is my goal that when I post a new thread that it is as informative as possible as I like to share my experiences etc. with everyone else. As mentioned I sell the fog lights only for now. I will be posting a new thread very shortly announcing my new site, so stay tuned. If I get enough interest for these bulbs I will see if I can do a group buy.

@ mrrizzle - your too kind. I am glad I was able to provide everything needed in this thread for all to read.

@ RCZ1 - fitting all of the lights is not a problem. Fog Lights are the hardest and as mentioned above for Ken, if you have a lift that helps a lot and eliminates removing the wheels.

@ Joske - you are correct that the H1 Phillips Diamond Vision bulbs are not strictly road legal, but since these are only used for high-beams, they are not on with oncomming traffic so I'm comfortable with using these. Thanks for the information on the fog lights in regards to using Philips Ultra Diamond Range. I did see those but chose the HID Xenons instead.

@ kkrcz - yes you are correct in that it is a little dimmer and more noticeable during the day. At times the LEDs do not brighten-up all the way at first, and sometimes one is brighter than the other, but after a while they are good to go.

To all I am glad you have found this thread informative....
