Active bonnet activation.

Hi, my wife hit a pheasant in our RCZ and the active bonnet activated. I have closed the bonnet now and there is more of a gap round it than normal. Is it ok to drive. Also does anybody have any idea how much it is to get repaired? Thanks

Have to admit, I hadn't read that bit of the manual. I don't know what the active bonnet is :eusa-think:

I assume as long as the bonnet is securely fastened, the extra gap shouldn't really matter, although I don't think I would be happy going much over 30-40 mph really until it was looked at.

No idea how much that might be, depends if it involves any re-setting of this active bonnet thingy. A good body shop can often bend things back to where they are supposed to be, whereas if you go through insurance, they almost always just replace the lot, regardless of the extent of the damage.

Keep us informed of how you go on, especially with the active bonnet jobby.

Have you not seen these, DK? They are hydraulic rams above the wheels, towards the back of the engine bay.

In case of a front collision (with a person, object, wild foul...) they deploy a pyrotechnic charge like an airbag and raise the bonnet. Presumably to allow the front end crumple-zone to do it's stuff.

The bad news I'm afraid is that once deployed they must be replaced ASAP (by an official Peugeot main dealer according to the handbook so brace your wallet for impact) and the car should not be driven over 20mph in the meantime.

Yes, it sounds like a right pain in the wallet. Maybe even worth an insurance claim, depending on your premiums. :eusa-think:

It would be interesting to see the result of the deployment, although I'm quite sure you would be very happy NOT to see the result.

No idea on cost of getting it repaired :eusa-think: but if you lay the pheasants in the pan, cook until golden-brown in colour (about 3-5 minutes) on the leg sides. Turn the pheasants onto their breast side to colour for a further 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper; transfer to the oven and cook for 30 minutes, turning halfway through cooking time.

Someone on the RCZ Owners Group recently had theirs go off after hitting a sink hole that was not secured properly. It's only save to drive it to the garage ASAP. He did think at one point that it would be written off but it is currently being replaced and other damage repaired. I'm not sure if this was done under warranty or not.

Seeing how difficult it can be to get actual "faults" repaired under warranty, I doubt very much that any accidental damage would even be considered by Pug.

So It was a close call for me in the past, ahahahaha. In one morning two pingeons. One knocked one sersor from the parking sensor, had to remove the bumper and fix it. The other just left some blood + few feathers in the brushed front grill. Luckly was the metal one. If it was the standard possibly some major damage. Bloody birds, almost every early morning.
