Hello!

Context: I sent a mechanic from a company that does car checkings to look at a MK1 Automatic w/almost 65.000km, got back the report (I couldn't be on site, other commitments - no contact with the mechanic).
Apart from common things I already was prepared would most likely need replacing/fixing (timing chain, a sorta broken engine support leg, oil & filters) It got this faults:

Note: The car has a (dubious origin/cheap) aftermarket android screen. My gues is that is messing with the CAN-BUS. This are all the fault codes found:
  • U2000 - RCD Fault
    • Description: Communication failure in the CAN-BUS network. This usually happens when a module (such as the original radio) is missing or improperly connected.
  • F5FF - Internal Fault
    • Description: Internal system error, often related to the BSI (Built-in Systems Interface). It may require a reset or reprogramming of the module.
  • F03D
    • fault code indicates an absence of communication with the hands-free kit ECU or the nomad control unit
  • F05E
    • fault code indicates an absence of communication with the tyre under-inflation detection ECU.

The A/C doesn't work.

Do you think this faults could be attributed to the android screen messing the communications? Any prior experiencies?
I could put the original system back and check (after buying it), but I'm a little worried, specially with the A/C.

Apart from that, it looks good. No other fault codes.

Any experiencies or knowledge is highly appreciated.
Thanks for your time! =)

The A/C might just be a refill. Just had that done yesterday with mine. Due to very little use it was completely empty.

You should be able to revert back do the stock unit. But if the original one is gone you probably need to reprogram one. On the other hand, I think there are aftermarket units which do play nice on the bus.

OE head units are vin coded. So if you get one you will need a way to do that.

Hopefully the original wiring hasn't been chopped about.

The OE head unit is incluided with the car thankfully so no problem there. Thanks!

If of any use, I have an android unit (Xtron IA) in my 308cc, same car in most ways. No issues with it, no fault codes created from it either.
the only thing is that if I disconnect the battery and have to set the dash top clock I have to use the old radio, so for 6 months of the year it’s right in the UK.

The same unit was in my RCZ with no issues, but boss didn’t like it, thought it took away from the look of the dash. But when it was in, again no issues and no fault codes.

Just an afterthought if your AC buttons are not functioning, it could be the little panel was not plugged in correctly after the android unit was fitted.
though could be the type of canbus module used was ‘cost effective’ and is pulling down the canbus in the car.
