6months on...

Just thought I'd mention my experiences 6 months on. Lets start with the bad:

  • JBL HiFi - Really bad resonance coming from the rear speaker which is being investigated for the second time this week
SatNav - Only 5 digit postcode search
Media Player - Can only read an certain number of files from a USB stick/hdd, don't know why Peugeot has imposed an arbitrary limit on this. If you have more files than this on your USB drive then the excess files simply won't be accessible
Brakes - Being so big with so much stopping power the pads have glazed and so they squeak during gentle braking
Rear Bumper - Apparently this was removed whilst replacing the fuel pump, but I noticed only last weekend that the centre of the bumper was no longer sitting flush with the boot lid, dealership going to look into it tomorow
Rattles - Small rattle coming from the drivers door, another coming from rear seats, which wnet away after I flipped the rear seats down and back up again
Oil cap white-ish sludge - Noticed a Creamy-white sludge under the oil cap, I've been told this is normal by the dealership technician, I can't say I'm entirely convinced, as I've never had a car produce that sort of residue before
Door lock - The passenger side door lock had corroded (it was a white oxidisation) but was replaced under warranty

To be fair I'm super picky, so all in all that's not a bad list and I think the little pug has done really well. Now for the good:

  • Brakes - I know I mentioned them on the bad but they are just amazing, super responsive
JBL Hifi - Yes, I mentioned this on the bad list as well. But I've been listening the Tron Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk and the sound is crystal clear.
Fuel Economy - I've not been able to resist having a slightly heavy right foot and as a consequence the fuel economy has dropped to an average of 35mpg which is due to the short stop-start 10mile journey to work
Handling - I still love the way it corners
Engine - The THP200 is simply fantastic, the noise it makes the harder you rev it is addictive
Cabin - Still got that new leather smell and everything still feels special
Looks - Still haven't found anything else I like the look of as much as the RCZ
Customer service - From sales to service the entire experience at my local dealership City Peugeot in Basingstoke has been exemplary, they've been happy to help, courteous, knowledgeable and professional
Overall - Minor niggles aside I still feel I made the right choice even when I look at the alternatives I was considering, I still wouldn't change the little pug for anything else!

So how have you guys found your ownership experience???

HI Jas

Glad your still enjoying your RCZ. I have had mine 5 months now. Have had a few probs with it, in tech discussion listed under oil leak. Probs aside I still love the car and would agree with your comments. I don't have the jbl upgrade, however, like yourself I too seem to be getting resonance from offside rear speaker. With regard to your door rattle have you tried holding the drivers side vent, have seen this posted elsewhere as an issue, I did have a rattle which seemed to come from the drivers door but this vanished when I held the air vent, must be intermittent fault cos I've not noticed it for a while now. Enjoy!

Well mines 6 weeks old with 6k on the clock and I can honestly say this car gives me a real buzz

I have a history of high performance and prestige cars (in fact I still have my Audi A6 3.0 TFSI quattro which is really fast ) ..but the RCZ is special, ...It is not super fast but rapid enough, the difference is how it makes you feel when you drive it. No other car has made me feel this way ..the RCZ is a very special car :) . I popped into some shops and when coming out heard 2 guys discussing my car...one honestly said "that must be £80K or more it looks fantastic"...I felt really good when I then pushed the remote fob and got into it :)

Regarding rattle on driver's side: I had this. It's the drivers side air vent. If you thump (lightly) the top of the vent you will hear the rattle. I got my dealer to fix mine, they remove the vent and add some packing tape stuff.. now fine!
