Has anyone fitted 235/45's to the standard 19" Peugeot alloys?

I've sent my wheels away for refurb and put 18" wheels on I the meantime and the car is much smoother now, so was wondering if I can add 5mm depth on my next tyre purchase.

As you have fitted 18" rims, I'm assuming it's not an R model. I would have thought 45 profile tyres would fit without any problems, but maybe someone who's actually tried this can reply please ?

No its a GT bought from new with 19's. Love the look of the 19's so once refurbed they are going back on but wanted the slightly larger profile tyres.

235/40 to 235/45 isn't a 5mm difference. The 40 or 45 is a percentage of the width and per side.

40% of 235mm=94mm.
45% of 235mm=105.75mm

11.75mm extra rubber per side makes the overall diameter 23.5mm bigger. It's a big difference.

What tyres have you got? I find some brands are both quieter and smoother than others. Goodyear AS2 have softer sidewalls.

I have 245/40 on the front. Seem slightly cheaper than 235/40 and only 1.2% (8mm) larger diameter, so within safety limits.

You mean 5mm width ? The rule is 20mm wider than the rim is reasonably safe the tires will expand 5mm per 1/2 inch -12.5mm increase in rim width
I stuck these on the front 200GT holds the road well & have no issues in the wet plus it brakes on a sixpence when required & they didn't cos t over £200 plus

He's asking about going for a 235/40x19 tyre to a 235/45x19 tyre.

He thought 40 to 45 was an extra 5mm sidewall for a better ride.

I with you mate I once found a table somewhere of what width could be fitted to a 19" rim & the sizes went up to 375!! Might just cause an issue on full lock?😄
