I think I will be calling another dealer to see what they charge. If you try and book it online with Peugeot you are quoted £190.00. WTF is going on?

I think we need some clarity on this.

I have just gone through the online service booking for my local dealer and the online price is £190.00. Price quoted over the phone when I booked my car in was £346.40!

Dealer I bought the car from is quoting £285.00 online.

Come on Peugeot what's going on here? It appears your dealer network is screwing the customers.

Simple answer is book it online. That way you'll get the same job done but far, far cheaper. BTW my service was £139.00 2 year service.

But is my theory that they try and rob you blind if you are on a Personal contract plan feasible? My quote changed once I gave my reg details.

Actually Hart I've just tried the online booking tool and for my local dealer price is coming up as £229. What's going on???!!! That's over £80 less than they want to take off me tomorrow.

I don't know if PCP has anything to do with it and in my eyes shouldn't. The service is the same if you bought it outright, leased it, PCP or any other way.

I spoke to Peugeot HQ about this today. The dealers are free to charge whatever they like, however they should honour the online price. I have been told to talk to the dealer principle to see if I can resolve the price difference.

In the meantime I am going to book online and cancel my original booking that I made over the telephone.

I'll let you know what happens.

Financing has nothing to do with the price you are charged as I paid for my RCZ with cash.

Quick update:

Just booked my 2 year service online for £190.00. Awaiting a call from the dealership. Should be an interesting call.

I spoke to Peugeot HQ as well this morning. Firstly they told me that I needed to speak to Peugeot FInance and then the Finance dept told me to speak to Customer Services.

Anyway in the end I e-mailed them. This was the response:

"Peugeot Uk provide guidelines for our dealership network as to servicing costs however as the dealerships are independent from us, as the manufacture, their labour charges can differ from business to business meaning their prices can vary.

The price of a service should not be different for a vehicle on finance to a vehicle that has been bought outright.

The online booking service gives a rough quote for the age and mileage of the vehicle, and once booked online the chosen dealership will call up the customer and confirm booking and the price for the service making sure everything that is needed is included. "

So looks like the online tool is online a guideline (although I couldn't see anything in the small print suggesting that). I expect like me you will then be told that the online price doesn't include spark plugs change and that bumps the cost up again.

Good luck. Mine is currently at the garage as we speak. They wouldn't budge on the price and I don't have any more holiday this year to allow me to take a day off work and take it further afield, so had to stick with it unfortunately.

Right here is the cost breakdown for my service:

£190.00 online price is for a standard oil and filter change only.

You then have to add the following:

£30.34 for brake fluid

£52.19 for a fuel filter

£52.19 for a pollen filter

I have an agreed price of £272.53 without changing the pollen filter.

The online prices are very misleading. Even with a pollen filter it does not add up to the original £346.40 I was quoted.

Well my wheels didn't come out of the garage yesterday. They have had to keep it as they have found a "serious" problem with oil leaking from the cam (if that sounds feasible). So I am without my car until tomorrow. Let's hope it's all covered under the warranty.

This is outrageous. In order to obtain a on line quote, you have already submitted your vehicle details and mileage. So when you request a service, a service for that vehicle is what the price quoted should be for. They as "professionals" (I assume a Peugeot dealership charging their labour rates would consider themselves as such) should know what parts are required to carry out the specific service and what price that will be. This is absolutely appalling, verging on criminal. How can they quote a price and that is what the site claims to do, as it comes under a heading that says quote, and then charge something totally different to carry out the requested service? If I asked for a quote for a new tyre for my RCZ, I wouldn't expect to be quoted the price for a tyre for a mini and then asked for extra money because it was an RCZ that the tyre went onto. Complete and utterly unacceptable behaviour

Going on from my previous post. An estimate is a guestimate as to what they may charge. A Quote or Quotation is just that, a statement of what they WILL charge.
A 20,000 or 2 Year service is a set service. It is laid down by Peugeot and is in the owners handbook. They know and we know exactly what parts require to be changed and what fluids need changing/topping up as well as what safety checks need to be carried out.
Therefore there is no excuse for this type of behaviour  I accept that a price may vary from one dealer to another, due to differing overheads/labour rates Etc. But the basic service should be identical nationwide. So there can be no excuse for giving a lower quote and then adding on extras, for what is actually a part of the service procedure that they have quoted to do.

Hi Ron,

Unfortunately Peugeot HQ don't seem to care what or how their dealer network charges their customers for servicing.

My previous Renault had fixed price servicing and it did not matter which dealership I took it to they all charged the same.

I'm pretty annoyed with Peugeot as I also have more niggles etc to be looked at when my car is in the dealership. The ride quality of my car has deteriorated to the point that even the slightest bump makes the whole car rattle and my drivers seat back moves forwards when I brake. With all the other issues I have had I would gladly sell my RCZ if I could afford to.

I know you are very happy with yours and I still love the look of the car but the build quality is appalling.

I hope they sort out your problems. I sure it will all be covered under warranty.

Looks ain't everything in women or cars. Peugeot need to sort this ridiculous servicing situation out with their dealerships. As I have said a service is a service and cannot be altered from the what has been prescribed by Peugeot and niggles need to be resolved in order to keep customers love of the brand and of their current car.
