Hi there is there any rcz owners on the forum who are currently running a remap on thee car , I've been in touch with durham remaps who have said they've done quite a few £350 including r/road before and after remap and you would get an actress 40 bhp and 45 nm , I just want to know from remapped owners if they've had any issues after mapping ie engine faults / clutch ect and does the car power curve feel much faster ?? Thanks in advance alan

hello
i have remaped my own
i have no problems at all except that the factory intercooler is too small to handle with the new boost pressure
that means that you have more power but for less time
so i changed it too

Thanks for the reply what bhp /torque are you getting above the 156 bhp now . Did u change the exhaust /filter ?

i haven't changed filter/exhaust yet.
in theory (because i haven't gone on a dyno yet) my car is about 200-205 ps and about 310nm torque
when i go on a dyno (not very soon) i would be happy to inform you

I'm considering buying an RCZ and recently drove a 156bhp model but was a little disappointed with the performance; I then drove a 200bhp model and was much happier.

Problem is, there's not so many out there, and they are usually pricier, so I was thinking about buying a 156 and remapping.

You say "that means that you have more power but for less time" - what exactly do you mean by that? Does the turbo come off boost sooner?

I don't want to have to change many things, such as intercooler, filters, etc. If I have a basic remap/plug in unit, will that suffice? I see that some of the plug in options offer a 185 version or a 200. Why choose the 185 - what are the disadvantages of choosing the 200bhp option? Is there a higher risk of engine damage? Decreased economy?

Usual figures for the 156BHP around 180-200 bhp, however since ALL THP engines are prone to carbonisation when you remap you increase the pressures in the PCV pipe work and inlet manifolds, then then puts more increase on carbon deposits on your inlet manifold/valves.

Thanks for that info... would a remapped 156 suffer from carbonisation any more than a standard 200 though??

Years and years ago - I'm talking the '70s here - de-carbonising (or de-coking as it was called then) used to be a more or less annual event. I well remember the old cornflake boxes with numbered holes and the array of numbered jam jars my Dad used to have, to make sure everything went back in the place from which it came.

Perhaps we're all too used to low maintenance or maintenance free (which means, when it breaks, buy a new one) now?

The 207bhp DS3 racing has had the rear PCV blocked off. I think Peugeot and BMW done the same.
