I had mine re-gassed recently. The air con is not great in mine I'm afraid. I find the best way is to turn the temp to minimum and turn on the aircon button and the fan manually. I don't use the auto button. Make sure if they re-gas it, they put in dye so they can find the leak (if any).

I was told to rev it to 5000 RPM for 20 seconds, lift off quickly, let car return to idle. If it runs rough, HPFP on the way out. I will try your idea because I got a fault code for HPFP, but the car is running fine and the light has gone off since the code was cleared.
Misha thought it was a 2 litre engine! He seemed surprised when the owner told him it was a 1.6.
So... engine power can't be too bad. Plenty enough for me that's for sure (y)
