Hello Dingley, there are several posts on the forum that cover the silver arches and how best to keep them clean, BUT and there is always a but.... It depends on what state they are in because not only are they a prat to keep good, they also are affected by corrosion from under the lacquer...

I had no problem working out a service plan with my local Pug garage, but in the end I didn't take it up. I prefer to pay what's due on the day rather than add another monthly bill onto my already increasing expenditure. My R came up on the system and then they went through it to take bits off...

I agree with all the help Neil has given, I had the temp sensor thingy and disconnected the expansion tank sensor, that fixed that lol. But what I wanted to add is that a dying battery can throw up some very unusual faults and you mention battery voltage low. Worth having the battery checked...
