Hey guys if your engines sound like a diesel when cold get the timing kit changed ASAP why wait till it throws the timing out or breaks the guides amongst other things, it’s just false economy £500 or a wrecked engine I know what I would rather do. :eusa-think:

Have heard of the odd car that has had head gasket issues but I can’t believe that your motor runs with only a slight misfire with a sump full of coolant! :eusa-think: One thing for sure if that’s the case if you keep letting your engine run like this it won’t be long before it never runs again!

Further to my last post remember on cold start up if you listening to your chain with the bonnet up it does rattle slightly till the oil gets round, but you shouldn’t really hear it from within the car, the death rattle does make your thp sound like a diesel. :thumbdown:

Hi I can see your reasoning but I’m afraid it’s false economy, as Robrac has stated earlier just change the whole kit and you should be trouble free for 70k or so. My chain started rattling when cold at 17k within a minute or so the chain would quieten down and when I let a Peugeot technician...

I got quoted £350 by the wheel specialists in garforth near Leeds. This is for a drive in drive out service which I think is a great deal! They remove the wheels and the tyres then refurb the wheels and then blast and powder coat. Refit tyres and balance the back on car for collection turnaround...

Why do you just want the tensioner? If your chain has become slack then you need the full timing kit, the original guides are a week spot and have been revised. I would bite the bullet and get a good Peugeot dealer or specialist to do the work, around £500 and you will have peace of mind. :thumbup:

Sounds like your dealers just don’t know what they are doing?? If your timing chain has gone again then either they didn’t do the job properly in the first place or didn’t change all the parts, chain, tensioner, guides etc. Or if you have oil leaks have you let the oil level drop? The water loss...
