Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
UDPATE:
Surprise, surprise. I might be on to something which could have been the cause of all the faults on my R from previous months. Like the catalyst, the turbo, the cracked exhaust manifold, etc. You have the full list in this thread.
Honestly...
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
The chain never needs to be replaced on the R engine, unless you drive it like a nut. Talking about me. Then you will need to change the chain. I'd say once in a lifetime of an R.
The running costs on the R are very high when you push the car...

@ianGT156
Thank you very much for your kind words :beer: . I read a lot English press and books and I do work with people from all around the world. Speaking English is often the only option to communicate. Although I wish I had more conversations...
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
Although I drive less during the winter period the 100k shall fall during the month of February :greetings-wavingblue:
Re: +80.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
UPDATE:
The second time the catalyst in my R failed. The first time it was during warranty period. Back than it was due to worn plugs which produced some misfires. I insisted on replacing them before the annual service but Peugeot denied. So at the...
I agree. Entering the Dolomites from east is way more picturesque than following the Brenner Pass.
In my opinion only French Alps can top that. Maybe 2019 you will be doing a French Alps drive?
Although I will not take part in the RCZ meet I have a question:
Is there a reason why on the 7th day you don't take the SS44 left of Sterzing and head for the climb towards Timmelsjoch via the S44bis? The road on the italian side is just breath taking beautiful. I mean you can have a look on...
It depends on what the market will offer after Auto Geneva 2018. I hope the new 508 will fit me. If not, I will look elsewhere.
Nice, new coupes are rare nowadays.
It is very simple for them to check the issue. Hook up to the OBD and start the cold engine. Important, cold engine. Then a higher pressure is required and faults like yours are easier to reproduce.
Wish you good luck! :greetings-wavingblue:
the OEM front pads on the RCZ R run under no. PNF4498X821S
You will find webshops like this where they sell those pads:
http://www.jdl-brakes.com/brake-pads/br ... ipers.html
http://www.jdl-brakes.com/ds-performanc ... liper.html
Going by the OEM part number you can find a fitting replacement
@jr4070
The engine warm up you described is typical for euro6 engines. Nothing extraordinary. During this period the engine runs on very rich mixture to quickly heat up the catalyst. Occasional rough running is normal.
The pattern I described is to be checked on a warmed up engine only.
Unfortunately coil packs are that low quality nowadays. Even Denso from Japan does not provide bulletproof quality anymore. My coil pack got replaced after about 3 years of driving at about 80k miles.
For your second issue: yes, your guess might be spot on. Check also my post here...
The funny thing about Porsche is they are simple in their construction. So, often parts are cheap and easy to manufacture. But they are sold at high prices. That is the trick that made Porsche rich. The same goes for their cars. Since I have been working on a race 911 it opened my eyes to the...
