I stopped using them for exactly the same reason. Settled for the black plastic caps. If the caps were fitted from new, they should be liable if they caused the damage. This is a known issue with metal caps.
It has to be worth asking in any case. :eusa-think:

I was amazed myself, but they have to take the arches off to replace the windscreen, something to do with the bonding. :eusa-think:
