Premium brand tyres and ones made for summer will give you the best results, but will wear longer. Softer the tyre the better the ride and quicker they wear. It's a trade of on comfort over longevity.

I have 74K on my 2011 petrol but drive it hard on a occasion and have done since new, with no issues experienced other than thermostat and minor things.
I know this does not help with your problem...
