I agree with jimbrodie. When I looked at the picture of your car my first thought was what a wonderful gloss on the bonnet - looks fantastic! Putting a matt stripe across it would, in my opinion (and it is only my opinion) spoil it.
I too like both - one is not necessarily better than the other they're just different. However I do much prefer the lion badge on the later car - it looks much cleaner and neater. Having said that I'd definitely go for a facelift version next time.
Yes, especially 1st to 2nd. Besides the gearbox oil level, check that you are fully depressing the clutch pedal and I'd also suggest that you experiment with the revs during gear changes. I've found that having a few extra revs as you change gear (not too many though!) helps it slot in easier...
Front lion badge = 16 097 062 80
Rear lion badge = 7810Y7 (up to 02.12.12) or 16 090 696 80 (03.12.12 on)
I don't know what the difference is between the two rear ones - the pictures look identical.
Remember that those dates will be production dates and not registration dates!
Once out of warranty you should consider using independents if you have a good one nearby. You will often get a better service and at a cheaper price. The key is to find a good one!
Here's a link to a list of car makes in order of reliability and cost of repair (mix of how often they have faults and the cost of repairing them when they do) as experienced by an independent warranty provider:

Perhaps surprisingly Peugeot come...
In spite of everything we may read on this forum it appears that Renault, Bentley and Porsche are worse for electrical faults. Unfortunately I don't have access to the full list so cannot see where Peugeot came but it certainly appears that cars generally are becoming more unreliable in respect...
It will be Magneti Marelli. They are a big Italian original equipment technology and parts manufacturer eg. satnavs, lights, injectors etc. Unfortunately they don't have a UK subsidiary, nor do they sell satnavs to the aftermarket.
