Yes I agree with Neil, I'm not a mechanic but from all the posts on here, it sure seems to be pointing at the hpfp. I know it's an expensive repair and your hope it's not it, but look at it this way, if it is you've just spent a lot of time and effort to do the valves, and it's still the hpfp...

Take the opportunity to get a more powerful secondhand engine fitted. this is a tricky situation and I feel your pain, do I plough another £3k into what is already a car which was worth £6k, or do I take the £3k and put it to another car? I think knowing breakers etc, that you will be lucky...

Right so I've covered myself in beeswax, does that give me entry to your heated garage- LOL !! The cover is really good, the water just runs off. I appreciate what you say about winter, but I never put the cover on after a drive, I always clean the car and wax it before putting the cover on...

Hmmm, I thought I could put this behind me LOL but yup i did almost the same not once but twice, albeit on the same occasion. though I did not melt the plastic, only burnt the paint and it flaked off. So, because of that I managed to get the area on the front bumper and mirror arm repainted...
