If you could maybe film it with your phone (on your drive, not down the motorway in top gear! lol) and upload it so we can hear it, I'm sure somebody can definitely help you out. My first guess would be the timing chain on its way out though as your friend suggested.
I never press 'A/C' at all, only 'Auto' as it remembers your settings.
The 'LO' setting is maximum coldness but you probably don't need to go that far unless it's the height of summer. It's personal preference though of course.
Turn big dial in middle all the way down as that controls the fan (no lights around it). Set the 2 sets of LED numbers to your desired 'comfort level' for each side of cabin (20 on both for me generally). Press 'Auto'. If you want it hotter/colder turn the numbers up or down a bit or to 'HI or 'LO'.
I think people who have had them come off have either failed to apply them correctly or are using cheap knock-off versions. Had my proper Rim-Blades on for years with zero issues. 👍
Rim-Blades are a great addition that look great and also protect the alloys. It always had to be red for me though! Black just make the tyres look bigger. Maybe silver would be a compromise?
