I have had the same issue on my GT 200 took it for its annual MOT and it failed on a broken front coil spring ,difficult to see until I stripped the strut down put a new spring on no further noises.

Not sure of fuse location I used a multi meter to test power at light unit found that a 12 v supply was there but my centre brake light had failed completely managed to get a second hand unit from another forum member. I understand new units are expensive.
