Hi all,

My ABS module has failed. U1213.

Trying to locate the module but can't find the data in the Workshop manual or online. Might have seen a video that hinted it might be in front of the L wheel arch. About to splash £30 for a Haynes manual unless I can find it first.

Any help please? Thanks.

Pic of what it looks like, and if you remove the air pipes circle in red along with the noise box you will see it.
Before you jump to replace there is a relay box (from memory) attached at the front of the battery box that has four 1 amp diodes in it along with a couple of other bits, it can throw up as abs module failed. If you can, check it first. You may just need to replace the diodes if your handy with an multimeter and soldering iron. Also check functionality of the speed sensors from all four corners. If it wasn’t such a horrible night out I would try and get a better pic but hopefully the attached gets you in the right place.

Thanks Eddie.

I found my answer in the workshop manual. Page 597, under Hydraulic Valve Block (ABS/ESP).

I saw something about the relay / diode online. I can't see any on mine. It's a THP 200. Yours is a THP 156, but I can't imagine we will have different ABS configurations. I'll have another look before I take the ABS out.

Fortunately the diagnosis feed for the ABS module with ECUtesting.com is "only" £30 + postage (to and thro probably another £30) and a bottle of DOT 4. Cheaper than taking to a garage for now...

The external diodes were on the early cars, I think pre 2012. It was then integrated into the abs pump. If there isn’t a box about the size of a cig pack on the lower front of you battery (or your up the years) it’s integrated.

That's very helpful. Mine ins 2014, which is why I didn't spot them when I was testing the fuses. (y)
