I currently own a GT Line THP, and have knocking coming front the front end (think its the front nearside shock), so was contemplating changing them. As much as I would like to, I cant really affort to upgrade with a performance suspension upgrade, however it has been suggested that I replace the front shocks and springs with the those for a diesel model, as these may be stiffer due to the extra weight, does anyone have experience of this or any other advice re improving the suspension ? cheers in advance.

Changing parts to see if the noise goes away without knowing where it's coming from isn't a good idea.

An expert should analyze where the noise is coming from.

Tests can be done to determine if the shock absorbers are good.

The difference with the HDi is significant—almost 100 kg of difference, all on the front axle. With the diesel's springs, the suspension will be lifted, making it look ugly and reducing comfort.

And the most common place for a McPherson strut suspension to make noise is the top mount.

Did you get to the bottom of this?……
I’ve had this problem for nearly a year I’ve had new top mounts drop links ball joints track rod ends….still the same:mad:
im now thinking it might be an engine mounting…even though they look ok I’ve heard the rubber can dry out and cause knocking noise…..
