I am looking to buy a RCZ GT 200 from Autotrader with MOT expiring on 16th of February 2025
The seller is openly stating that one of ignition coil is burning but on a quick MOT check it shows on the advisories the following:
Exhaust emits blue smoke during acceleration (8.2.1.2 (g))
The rice is vey low but how risky is this purchase?
Will £500.00 cover the potential issues that need fixing? Also, can any one suggest a good independent Peugeot specialist in west, south west London

Thanks
Filo

An ignition coil is burning? Ignition coils are cheap and easy to change.

Blue smoke is usually burning oil. The car also failed another MOT a few thousand miles ago for Exhaust hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle exceeds manufacturer's specified limits.

The mileage on the advert is less than the less MOT.

I think there is a reason the seller is asking half the price of the next cheapest car. It's not a cheap fix. It's an engine rebuilt and timing chain that is probably required.

Hi mate, emits lots of blue smoke during acceleration usually means the engine needs rebuilding, if you want to do that it could be a bargain, I wouldn’t walk away from it, I’d run!!

don’t forget it’s cheap for a reason

You never know what the real condition is Blue smoke on a average mileage Prince engine possibly points to an issue with Valve stem seals or & carbon build up in the valve chambers a burning coil points to plug failings tests to check oil pressure on each cylinder will give an indication if the rings-bores are badly worn ?
