Hi everyone,

So I've only had my car 1 week and already fault codes have come up from the OBD2 Scanner. I was driving a few days ago and the codes P000A and P1030 have come up on the scan. After performing a cold start as well, there is an overwhelming smell of petrol from the car, as well as the rattle on the engine, making me think the timing belt issues are on the car. If anyone has any idea as to what i should do it would be so appreciated, as i'm not sure what to do. I have a warranty with the garage i bought the car from, however i'm still unsure as to whether these issues are serious enough to get a refund on the car, thanks

You didn't state what model ?
P000A is camshaft position slow response bank 1 (timing) electrical problem?
P1030 is variable lift -VVT is sluggish could be motor issue electrical problem?
Smell of petrol could relate to engine timing affecting combustion cycle ?

i have the 200hp THP which makes me think it is the VVT issue, however i'm still unsure as to whether it is sensor related or even mechanical related - I believe the car went into limp mode on my journey yesterday, but the warning did go away at one point and it felt normal again, confusing to say the least

Mine's a 200 & the VVT is prone to malfunction due to dirt ingress from dirty oil personally I have never had any issues as my oil is changed circa 3-3500 Klm but service history is the pointer to how the engine has been looked after if you search for Marmite's posts he documented his fix regarding this issue
