Afternoon all, interested on people's opinions of how much the Rs are worth at this moment, they seem to have crashed all of a sudden looking at prices across the web?

Crashed? The dogs are still for sale circa £10k...the decent examples are around £15k. With premium examples £17-22k....been that way for a good while. Mileage seemingly the key price factor.

Price adjustment across the car market seems inevitable given current issues....

Fair play, maybe I am a little anxious given I have only just purchased one I am keen to maintain the value if possible given its not a daily, the current one at £22k on autotrader has been there a long time, it looks mint but maybe overpriced am not sure.

I would never expect to get the purchase value back on mine in years to come, but it would be scary to think sub 10k for such a rare and capable car?

I am in for the long term ownership too, mine is a low mile Garage Queen now on less than 1K miles pa, got it before the market had the big increase in 2019>. Can't see it losing much money from current values in the Short Term and in the future it will gain given the ingredients that make it 'special'. Given the cluster fuck of a Govt and their policies I can see a few being 'given away' if cash is needed by Owners.

In 2008 I watched eBay fill up with 'cheap' 911's etc as the Financial Industry reajusted it's staffing after the sub prime debacle......can't see that this time round it is more the blue collar workers who are being shafted.......may see snatch backs and PCP deals ending prematurely given the £40bn of UK finance debt in the motor industry on new cars......the average PCP finance debt being £25K!!!!

It is concerning watching the market. Cars are sitting for ages and their prices keep getting reduced.

I do think the current cheaper cars are a bit rough, but that didn't stop them selling before.

I know it's a quiet time of year, but it's not good watching the market.

The car in Edinburgh is still up for sale and has been reduced numerous times. It's now only £9600.

Yes I have been watching, there seems to be a big gap in the market at the moment price wise, but as previously stated to get the best price I think these cars need to be mint and well looked after.

Think 2 have sold recently the white and the red one, no idea for how much though.

Most cars that have come up for sale in the last few years appear when they need maintenance. Most cars have been needing the front brakes done. I don't think many of the cars sold have been genuinely mint condition including the more expensive ones.

The black one does need the front brakes done. It was flagged a few years before, but the same brakes passed the next couple of MOT without advisory. The budget tyres on the rear are a put off. It doesn't look a bad car. I never expected to see them drop under the £10,000 mark.

The owner of the white car is on here. He was expecting top money, but had to reduce his price a couple of times that I noticed. I don't think the car sold. It hasn't changed owner and the MOT and road tax has expired.

I'm not sure about the red one. It had been on for ages too.

Yes seems obvious with the brakes on all of Rs that come up, I am just in the process of a complete brake refresh which I knew would need doing before I purchased, I was also aware of the cost involved, another thing is the wheels, they can't always be refurbished am sure people are aware of this, I have purchased a couple of new wheels as spares going forward.

I went to see the red one before buying mine last year, obvious why it had been for sale for ages, guy was asking 19k back then which was crazy given the work that needed doing, also he gave me some crap about service stamps missing and all I had to do was pop into Arnold Clark to get the book done lol

Thought the white car looked decent apart from a couple of niggles with detail, surprised it didn't sell.

The wheels can be refurbished. The diamond cut face can be machined on a lathe a few times. Once the rim becomes thinner it would need to be a powder coat finish.

The wheels used to be available from a Peugeot dealer in Switzerland at a very good price. I think Flanners bought wheels from them.

Yes bought mine from Switzerland, yes agree about the refurbish, was meaning they get to the point where they can't be diamond cut anymore. I think the wheels look fantastic as factory and would never consider a change also the detail with the R emblem to me is pure class.

There was a grey one with Fish bros that was reduced to £17,495. It was previously advertised privately for £15k. Just seen a photo of it the other day on the RCZ FB page. I think the red one has gone to a dealer so might see it pop up in Autotrader soon. I did contact the person with an offer and was told that £14,995 was his lowest as that was what the dealer offered him as trade in value.

If I was a lot nearer to Scotland I would look at the 2 black ones. The £12.5k should be the better value with fewer owners, new front brakes and lower miles but again really need to look at them to be sure. I am keen as unfortunately my THP200 Magnetic was rear ended recently and been written off. I may end up buying it back from the insurance and keep it as a cheap toy to tinker.

Since I've been looking at R, the lowest non CAT one was was £9k. It did have an issue where the owner couldn't figure it out and someone in this forum bought it but ended up returning it. The next cheapest but looked to be a very good one was back in Sept 2019, it went for £9.5k.

Agreed with what you said, it needs to be a mint, well looked after one for someone to get best price. However, ultimately, with what's going on at the moment, it's a tough market for private sellers.

Fish claimed on here the car was valued at over £19,000. They still had to reduce it and give a 3 year manufacturer's warranty. I've never seen that on any used car before. It's remarkable for an 8 or 9 year old car.

The red one was last advertised at £13,995. If a dealer genuinely offered £14,995 he'd be mad to turn it down.

If you're wanting a rare car you're going to have to travel. I have always travelled to buy my cars. When I start searching it is really rare to see what I want nearby. I travelled 350 miles to buy a Volvo V60 B6 last week. One did pop up 60 miles away, but the trade in deal down south was too good.

I agree that the private market is dead. Selling a car looks tough. I also think the gap between dealers and private sellers is bigger than ever.

The red one needed so much work doing I wasn't even able to make an offer on it, guy was trying to convince me I was mad not making an offer, I don't believe a dealer would offer what he was saying there simply would be nothing in it, one of the biggest problems along with the rust on the lower wheel arches was the roof wrap which was lifting in places, also it had a huge chunk of paint out of the bonnet.

That's interesting what you mentioned about rust and a huge chunk of paint out of the bonnet. I know that it had the roof wrap with matte carbon wrap. That's the thing isn't it? You can't tell just from pictures and really have to see it in person before even making an offer. That car supposed to have been ceramic coated as well and the pictures on FB looked stunning but you can't never tell in real life.

Yes the wrap didn't look good, and yes you need to see these cars in person, unfortunately it can be costly with the travel but for the right car its obviously worth it.

As people will know from my last thread I missed a few things on mine because I was more sold on the history and Warranty which for me was essential, but it still doesn't mean all is going to be well buying private, in hindsight I should have has a RAC inspection.
