Been out today and got this error code up I did check the oil earlier in the day and it’s all ok car was only serviced 3 months ago
Code reads B camshaft position timing over retarded bank 1 I have plugged in and reset the management system and then been back out for a drive and it seems ok error hasn’t come back on yet , but I am not using car much at the moment maybe 10 miles a week at most and not driving it hard either what do you think is it a glitch as I was driving at about 40 mph
At the time and was only about a mile from home

I got a Camshaft cohesion fault & thought I was in deep Sh** after nearly stalling on a nasty roundabout but drove home wiped code out & not seen it since maybe it was possibly due to trying to take off in second gear ! 😄

Hi new on here , but I had /have the same issue , have you solved this , I will run over how it started and my thoughts , I work in a garage specializing in automatic and manual gearboxes in glasgow , so decided it's time for a service for my rcz , oil and air filters and oil replaced on this service .
Driving home after I got engine light on and repair needed , no issues driving it ,strangely it felt a little more powerful , anyway I knew it couldn't be too serious as it had never happened before so was due to something I have caused .
The light stayed on a full day and out next day , this continued for a few weeks light on and off , lasting a day or 2 , so I gathered I hadn't done anything wrong apart from put in 5 40 oil instead of 5.30 ,so I decided to replace the oil again back to 5.30 .
After doing so light came back after a week , then again another week , and now it's about 2 or 3 weeks and no light ,my thoughts are it didnt like the oil or air filter box is not fitted into all three lugs at back of box as this is a bit awkward to do when pressed for time .
So I'm at no light on and no driving issue anyway 3 weeks driving .

The Princes have a total Hatred of (wrong oil spec) & they can run like crap if you put crap in the sump & the dash will look like Blackpool illuminations !
Total Ineo 5.30 Low saps code 3 is the benchmark oil to use in the prince engines you can go lower 0 30 but its not needed in the UK climate & the slightly higher viscosity will help reduce frictional wear on the chain & cams valves etc especially on cold start ups we experience with our weather temps

My dealer who is highly regarded by Peugeot UK have told me Peugeot now recommend the Total ineo First 0w-30 as the service oil to use in the THP even in the UK.

I was told the same thing by the service manager at the local garage I use for parts & after discussing it further he agreed with my suggestion that as the mileage creeps up it may be a good thing to increase the oil to 5 30 also regarding using the 0 30 he did specify that the low saps code 3 is what you should aim for in the viscosity rating for the prince & most direct injection engines in BMW & Citreons so who is right & who is wrong I suspect they use the 0 30 in the brand new cars because it helps the engine settle into it running patterns & I suspect Peugeot buy it by the tanker load for servicing etc but is it Total Ineo oil they are using in the workshop ?
I checked the Hand book when I bought the car & in the data section the recommended oil is 5.30 ?👀🙂

I wondered if the slightly thinner oil would possibly help the tensioner and cold start ups?

I would imagine there is not much difference as when the car is fired up the oil is sprayed under pressure right through the engine but with direct injection engines the oil deteriorates very quickly & this is what causes most of the damage to the chain etc that is why I have never took any notice of service schedules in any handbook I change the oil/filter when I am certain its on its way out usually around the 3500 to 4000 klm mark that way I know the chain & tensioner are looked after plus cleaner oil will help prolong the life of the engine
